"Max," I called to him gently.
"Belle," he said with a smile and turned to me.
"I have to tell you something," I continued, feeling my heart pounding in my chest.
"Sure, what is it?" He looked at me curiously.
"Don't freak out," I almost whispered.
"Okay?" He frowned but still smiled.
I held up a positive pregnancy test to him. It took him a moment to realize what it was.
"Is this what I think it is?" He looked surprised and excited.
"Yes, I'm pregnant," I said, smiling widely.
His face lit up and he pulled me into a warm hug. He lifted me up and spun me around in the air.
"We're going to be parents!" he exclaimed happily.
Max was overjoyed at the news of becoming a father. He couldn't wait to start preparing for the new family member. But first he wanted to make sure I was comfortable and well. He sat down next to me and took my hand in his.
"How are you?" Max smiled and hugged me
"I'm so, so happy," I replied, overcome with emotion.
The thought that we had been married for three years now and were finally going to be a real family made me absolutely overjoyed. We hadn't been actively trying to have children because we were both still driving. I felt a little sad to have to end my career, but I was still happy to be able to accompany Max as he raced.
I called the girls and held up the test so it would be the first thing they saw when they answered. All three screamed out loud and I just laughed. Carmen started crying with happiness while Lily and Alexandra were in a state of shock.
"We're going to be aunts!" they exclaimed.
We talked for a while before ending the call. Then we called Max's family and then my family and told them the news. Some cried, others were shocked, but above all, everyone was overjoyed for us.
The months that followed went very quickly and we had found out that we were having a little boy. We sat for several hours on the couch trying to come up with a name.
