Aerea and Draco's summer holidays had finally started after another long year of school, and they found out from their father that they had the privilege to go to the Quidditch World Cup with the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge.
The twins were ecstatic. It was about the only thing they talked about the whole summer until Lucius scolded them that they shouldn't show that kind of behaviour in the presence of the Minister when the time comes.
After a month of talking and dreaming about the World Cup, on the 22nd of August, it was finally time for them to actually watch it.
The Malfoy family arrived at the Quidditch World Cup with portkey and made their way to the Top Box where they would meet up with Cornelius Fudge.
"... ah, and here's Lucius!" Aerea heard Cornelius Fudge say.
To her utter surprise, she saw the whole Weasley family and, of course, Potter and Granger.
"What are they doing here?" Aerea whispered to Draco so that their parents wouldn't hear.
Draco only shrugged, keeping his composure in front of Fudge.
"Ah, Fudge," Lucius said, holding out his as he reacher the Minister. "How are you? I dont think you've met my wife, Narcissa? Or our children, Draco and Aerea?"
"How do you do? How do you do?" Fudge said, bowing to Narcissa. "And allow me to introduce you to Mr Oblansk- Obalonsk- Mr- well, he's the Bulgarian Minister for Magic, and he can't understand a word in saying anyway, so never mind. And let's see who else - you know Arthur Weasley, I daresay?"
Aerea's father and Mr. Weasley looked at each other tensely for a moment. The last time they had seen each other was in Flourish and Blotts and ended up in a fight.
"Good Lord, Arthur," Lucius said softly. "What did you have to sell to get seats in the Top Box? Surely your house wouldn't have fetched this much?"
Aerea smirked at their faces.
Fudge apparently hadn't listened and said, "Lucius has just given a very generous contribution to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Arthur. He's here as my guest."
"How - how nice," Arthur Weasley said with a very strained smile.
Aerea and Draco took their seats in between their parents, but not before Draco shot the Golden Trio a contemptuous look.
Ludo Bagman opened the game and introduced the teams' mascots.
Bulgaria had Veela, semi-human magical beings; beautiful women with white-gold hair and skin that appears to shine moon-bright. When angry, Veela take on a less pleasant appearance; their faces elongate into sharp, cruel-beaked bird heads, and long scaly wings burst from their shoulders.
Merlin, I need to get out more. Aerea thought to herself as she pulled Draco back down his seat when the Veela finished dancing.
The Irish mascots were leprechauns, mischievous magical beasts, although it was not malicious. They had a reputation as pranksters but never inflicted lasting damage on a human with their pranks.
Yep, I definitely need to get out more. Aerea thought.
The Bulgarian team came flying into the stadium as the leprechauns made their way to the side, opposite to the Veela.
Bagman announced all of their names. "Dimitrov! Ivanova! Zograf! Levski! Vulchanov! Volkov! Aaaaaaand - Krum!"
Aerea had to admit, Krum was pretty attractive, even though he was 18.
