The days the February twenty-fourth seemed to come faster than Aerea had wished, and she still didn't know what the second task was.

It was the last Hogsmeade trip before the task, and although Aerea wanted to hold, she decided to stay back and take Cedric's advice.

When her roommates had gone, she ran a bath and stepped in, egg in hand.

Putting the egg underwater, she opened it. Instead of the horrible shrieking she had heard the first time she opened it, there was muffled singing.

Taking a deep breath, Aerea quickly went underwater.

"Come seek us where our voices sound,

We can not sing above the ground,

And while you're searching, ponder this:

We've taken what you'll solely miss,

An hour long you'll have to look,

But past an hour - the prospect's black,

Too late, it's gone, it won't come back."

Gasping for air, Aerea thought over what the song could mean.

Getting out of the bath and changing it struck her.

"Fuck no," she groaned.

She had to swim in the Black Lake and face the mermaids.

It was the day of the first task, and she couldn't find Daphne anywhere.

Last night, the two were in the library looking up spells Aerea could use so she could breathe underwater for an hour. The two had settled on the bubble head charm, as it wasn't too difficult and didn't hold many consequences.

Professor Snape came up to them and told Daphne that Dumbledore wanted to see her.

Aerea hasn't seen her since.

Before she got the chance to ask any of her housemates if they saw her, she got dragged away by Cedric.

"Let go of me, you prick, I'm trying to find Daphne," Aerea said as she tried pushing Cedric off of her.

"I would want to, but we need to meet at the lake before the rest of the school come," Cedric said, sending an apologetic smile to her.

Aerea groaned. "Of course we do. Can you at least let go of me? I can walk perfectly fine on my own."

Cedric let go of her arm, and the two of them made their way to the Black Lake.

Arriving there, the judges and the other two champions were already there, awaiting the instructions.

That was the moment Aerea noticed Potter was missing.
