Harlow Cole

I scrolled through my phone as I waited in the cafe for Ace, it's been two weeks since our encounter and we finally found enough time in our busy schedules to meet. I heard the doors of the restaurant open before looking up, he flashed a smile and began heading my way.

"Hey nugget." He said.

I gagged.

"Oh my god, it's been ages since I've heard that." I laughed as he sat down.

"Yes, it has." He chuckled.

"So what's been going on the last ten years?" I asked.

"Fuck, where do I start?" He laughed.

"I'll start things got worse once you got adopted, she became more abusive...more violent especially when she began to drink." I said.

He looked at me with sad eyes.

"Damn, I'm sorry." He said.

"It's fine, once I hit 18 I got the fuck out of dodge. Haven't looked back since." I said.

"That's good, my dad adopted four of us from different foster homes. The people you seen me with are my siblings." He explained.

"Wow, that's good that you got adopted with others." I said.

"Yeah, I love them. After our dad died I took over his business." He said.

"Oh ok, like a Ceo?" I asked.

He locked eyes with me and squinted.

"Uh something like that, how do you know Jay?" He asked.

"We're...dating." I said, but it came out like a question.

"Y'all fucking." He nodded.

I laughed and shook my head.

"Shut up, that guy he knocked out was my ex." I said.

"Oh shit, he was talking mad shit to you." He said.

I nodded.

"Yeah, he's a piece of shit." I said.

"Agreed, but a man who defends a woman that he's just "Fucking." like that, tells me it's something more." He said.

"I never really done a casual thing so I don't really know what's supposed to be what." I said.

"You can tell you ain't got no brothers." He laughed.

I threw a straw at him and laughed.

"Shut up." I said.

"Look does he show you acts of service?" He asked.

I thought back to the time he helped put my heels on.

"Yeah, but maybe he''s just a gentlemen." I said.

He looked at me and shook his head.

"Have you seen his house?" He asked.
