Last week, except for Sanghyun who had work, Junhyung met with the crew members first.
"But weren't we originally eight people?"
"We decided to exclude four people."
"Why?"
"I set the criteria for gathering members this time based on the willingness to start. But those four were too arrogant. Even if they were talented, they seemed like they would ruin the harmony."
Sanghyun thought Junhyung's criteria were a kind of defensive measure. It was as if a defense mechanism was triggered against someone with the existing color of music being rejected by a high school student leader in the crew.
"Well, he'll do fine."
But Sanghyun trusted Junhyung's judgment.
After all, Junhyung was a guy who did music for a living and was successful at it. Junhyung might have anxiety about his own future, but from Sanghyun's perspective, it was a proven fact.
"So, what about the remaining four? How old are they?"
"See for yourself. What does it matter if I tell you?"
"Oh, come on. I'm curious. Just tell me."
"Who said someone dropped out last week?"
"A lawyer wants to meet, so are we dropping him?"
"It's noisy. Time isn't passing quickly at all."
Sanghyun felt excited and anxious waiting for the crew members. The pleasant tension when meeting new people in a new field. Moreover, it was in the music field that he intended to make a living for the rest of his life.
"Hey. By the way, what's our crew name?"
"Huh? Crew name...?"
Junhyung blinked at Sanghyun's question.
"Come to think of it, we don't have a name?"
"What? Wasn't it decided last week?"
"Yeah. There were nine people, including me. Some talkative and arrogant guys kept boasting unnecessarily, so three hours passed quickly."
"Well, since we still have about thirty minutes until the appointment time, shall we decide on a name?"
"Okay, that's totally dope."
Sanghyun searched through his memory. There were more than ten names flashing through his mind right now.
Highlight, Days Alive, Buckwild, Just Music, ADV, and so on.
Most of them were crews that hadn't even emerged as of 2005, but somehow he didn't want to steal their names. The feeling of excitement he had while listening to their compilations still lingered in Sanghyun's mind.
"What about foreign ones?"
Good Music, Asap Mob, Shady Records, Grand Hustle, Young Money, and so on...
But he didn't want to snatch foreign names either. Moreover, foreign teams with long histories seemed like they might already exist, so Sanghyun wouldn't know.
"Ugh..."
Junhyung struggled, squeezing his head.
Sanghyun didn't think the crew name necessarily had to be cool. Honestly, he believed that if the music was really good, it didn't matter what they were called. After all, aren't Good Music and Wu-Tang Clan's names not really that cool?
Instead, Sanghyun hoped the name would represent them. Representation is a very important part of hip-hop.
While Junhyung muttered and thought of names, Sanghyun pondered over it, jotting down notes with a pen.
