In the past, Sanghyun remembered Ulsan High School as a great place to study. However, returning to school after 20 years, he had to reassess his thoughts. This place wasn't a great school to study at; it was a school where studying was mandatory. The reason for this was the dreaded "end-of-month exams" system. At Ulsan High School, apart from months with midterms and finals, there were end-of-month exams at the end of every month, and the worst part was that the results of these exams in "language, foreign language, and math" were reflected in the academic records.
"That's really despicably petty!"
Considering these end-of-month exams accounted for only 2-3% of the total academic records submitted to universities, it was a figure too small to care about yet too significant to ignore or dislike.
"At least it ends early."
And today was the day for the end-of-month exams.
Originally, Sanghyun planned to maintain his grades by studying only moderately during midterms and finals while pursuing music. In case the situation arose where he had to go to college, he aimed for academic records that could be overcome through exceptional performance on the college entrance exam.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Should I go to college or not."
Junhyung nodded in apparent agreement with Sanghyun's words. Despite always being carefree, Junhyung was deeply troubled when it came to college matters.
"Did you tell your parents that you're pursuing music?"
"I don't know. Ah, I'd be dead meat if I did. Anyway, because of this guy's exceptional brain, he ends up studying hard for no reason..."
"It's not like scoring 50% on the academic records is impressive, is it?"
"He studies only the day before and thinks he's a genius."
Sanghyun chuckled at Junhyung's sarcasm. Indeed, Junhyung's intellect was impressive.
"Let's go out for now, Sanghyun. Wanna go to the PC room?"
"Well, it smells like cigarettes there."
"What does Sangmi say?"
Well, whenever I smell it, I think of cigarettes. Friends, huh.
It had been over three weeks since he regressed to 2005, but many habits from the past still lingered.
"Oh, by the way, when are we meeting the people interested in joining the crew?"
"Yeah, it's a hassle, and there aren't even that many people to coordinate with."
With no group chat rooms using smartphones available, Junhyung had to contact each person individually to gather and relay information, which extended the communication time and left Junhyung feeling a bit tired.
"Thanks. You're on your own at the PC room. I'm not going."
"Sure. See you tomorrow."
"Don't overdo it with the games."
"Got it."
Sanghyun saw Junhyung off to the PC room and headed home. As June was coming to an end, the weather was getting hotter.
"But it's still spring. After 20 years, there's only summer and winter left."
They even grow mangoes and coffee in Jeju Island. Or was that just a joke?
Just as Sanghyun was trying to shake off such frivolous thoughts, his phone rang.
"Yes, Manager Oh?"
It was Manager Oh Yeonju.
