Pt.53 the letters

Benny pov

I woke up early like I always do

I went down the hallway and quietly opened my moms door

She wasn't in bed so she must have already gotten up

I walk down my stairs and into my kitchen

"Morning benny!" My mom beamed

"Morning mama, do you want some cereal?" She shakes her head no

After I had eaten a bowl of fruit loops I ran to my room and grabbed the letters

"Mama" I softly said

"Mhm?" She hums reading a book in the living room

"Last night I woke up and I felt like I needed to check lady's room" my mom closes her book

"I found a envelope under her bed well I was halfway under her bed"

"I opened it and there were three letters."

"One was for me one was for you and one was for y/n I thought i should give you yours" I hand the envelope

"I already read mine and I was planning on giving y/n hers I just don't know when" she nods

She plucks her letter from the envelope

Leaving mine and y/ns in the envelope on the coffee table

I sit on the couch beside the love seat which my mom was sitting on

As she read I could see her starting to cry

After she finished I hugged her

"Benny uhm don't give the letter to y/n yet" I nod

"I will call her dad and we will find a more appropriate and respectful time to give it to her okay?" I nod again

I head upstairs and change into some jeans and white tank with a blue flannel

I grab my baseball cap glove and bat then head back downstairs

I head out the door and by the time I left it was 8:30

I knew y/n probably left already but I still decided to check

Phillips opened the door and I heard chase barking

"Oh my god shut up!" Phillips yelled at the dog

"Yeah uh y/n left already" I nod

"If you want I can take chase to the sandlot he seems like he is bugging you" I laugh

"Sure here give me a sec" Phillips grabs a leash and hooks chase onto it handing the other end of the leash to me

I take it and walk with chase who very much lived walking

He basically dragged me the whole way to the sandlot

As I get there once chase spots y/n he bolts and I fall face first into the ground as he runs away

"Oh that hurt" I groan getting up

"Hi chase how are you!" Y/n talks in a higher voice

I walk over to the dugout where everyone except yeah yeah and squints were sitting

"Benny why did you bring chase?" Y/n asks looking up at me

"Cause Phillips was yelling at him I didn't think he could last another second with that dog" I sit on the ground beside chase and y/n

I pet chase as we all continue waiting for squints and yeah yeah

From what I gathered I think they were getting a ball

I stare at y/n as she smiles petting chase

She was laughing and making jokes with the rest of the boys

*god her smile is so cute and that laugh ohhhh don't even get me started!*

*it's so cheesy the way I think about her it's like how they talk in the movies*

*but I just can't help it*

*I've never felt like this before!*

"Benny are you going to stand staring at y/n or are we going to play!?" I'm snapped from a trance

I turn to see everyone has moved to their spots on the field

"Oh sorry guys" I can feel my face get red with embarrassment

I could feel my face getting hotter with every laugh I heard from the boys

"Ok baseup you blockheads!" I yelled jokingly they all continued snickering a little

We played baseball as per usual

I got a few hits that almost went into Mr myrtles yard but thankfully they didn't

Y/n how ever did have one go over but she had brought an extra baseball

There were a few pickles and close calls but nothing different than the usual game

After hours and hours of baking in the suns heat

we decided it was too hot for us to continue playing

Well we would have kept playing but ham passed out for five minutes

So we didn't want that to happen again

We were all just sitting in the dugout thinking of what we could do

Usually we would go to the pool but squints got us banned

We could go to the carnival but it's a little early and we've been going a lot this summer

"Hey guys do you want to come over to mine?" Y/n comments

We think a little before she comments again

"I've got the whole house to myself for the next like day so you guys could stay the night"

The boys seemed very happy with that so we pack everything up

We all walk to our houses and part ways so we can pack tell our parents etc

I just went with y/n and I was going to just call my mom instead of going home

We get to the front door and walk right in

It always scared me how much the Phillips family never locked their door

Y/n would always say it was because it is a 'good neighbourhood

Y/n walks up to her room and comes back down with some garbage and dirty dishes

"Watcha doin?" I ask following her to the kitchen

"Cleaning up the house" I nod

I help her wash dry and put away all the dishes

I also help her clean the rest of the kitchen

"This feels nice to have a clean room" she sighs happily

"It looks great now we just have a whole lotta time to kill before everybody gets here" she nods

Sorry I wasn't active I got grounded bc I didn't listen or something

But mhmmm anywho the stories ending soon which is sad but it is what it is

So I'm gonna start working more on the next few parts
