Narrator POV:
In Greenvales long and troubled history, few had ruled as long as Adoras Family. Their Lineage was long and could be recounted up to the founder of the country, Mara Grayskull, over 2000 years ago even if, back then, Bright moon had been a far smaller Capital than the massive City it was today.
Micahs and Angela's Marriage had been marred in controversy, many claiming that her Sister had more of a right to the Throne than her yet her timely death made the choice a simple, if still unpopular, one. Said ruler sat in his Chamber, contemplating the last few years of his rule. While they had made some decisions that were popular, the People overall hated them with a near zealous vitreal and he failed to see as to why that was the case "We give you everything and you spit on us" he thought bitterly "....things were never this bad when you were still here" his gaze had drifted to the portrait on the wall, depicting his Family. His relationship with his Children had become stained by long absences during long trips to foreign countries and his continuous doubt in himself, leaving Angella to raise them for the most part (or whatever maid was around to do so) and he felt a great sense of regret that that had been the case "...maybe I should've listened to you back then, Son...."
Flashback 2 Years ago
When Adam returned home, he was furious. Adora had always been the one who came up with ways to save time, money, manpower, you name it and now he planned to make her an enemy? Had he gone insane? No marriage was worth this, no alliance was important enough to make him a Persona non grata in her eyes and Adam stormed into the Throne room to let his Parents know how bad they just fucked up "FATHER!" he shouted, finding the King slumped over on the Throne
"Son...you're ba..."
"Have you lost your last bit of sense? Forcing suitor after suitor on her has NEVER worked so why do you think it was gonna work now? What is so important that you're willing to make your daughter hate you?"
"ENOUGH" he slammed his fist on the throne "I will not be spoken to like this, not even from you" Adam bit his lip in frustration but held his tongue "What am I supposed to do? My youngest is with Child, unmarried like a common whore, you get into drunken fights and refuse to see your Fiance, claiming to have no interest in the throne...Adora is my only hope. I need her to marry a good man and lead this Kingdom"
"She never will.... don't you get it? Adora has no interest in Men"
"Nonsense, no Child of mine would be so blasphemous... she's just afraid but she'll will learn....I don't need her to love him"
Adams eyes narrowed "Is this you im talking to Father...or is it Mothers words coming out of your mouth"
"Careful, Boy....I am my own Man and don't need her to speak for me"
"Yet here you are, regurgitating her opinions and failing to see that you're about to lose your Children one by one"
Micah was about to say something before he changed his mind "L-lose?"
Adam turned around and walked to the huge, metal doors "Adora will soon make a decision that will change the course of the future for Greenvale in a major way. With Mother getting rid of her only reason to seek stability and you, stubbornly, refusing to listen to her needs, she will leave this place one day and then you will be forced into a War with her"
"Impossible..." he muttered, refusing to believe a word "Adora knows much but she'd never leave the comfort of the Castle or the City. This is all but a phase that shall pass soon enough when she's older"
Adam stopped "....This country is stagnant and stale, filled with injustice and desperate to remain in the time of the old traditions and ways, never evolving and only adapting to fit the need of the rich and mighty" he turned around to look at his Fathers diminished form "You can only hold back progress so much before you incite War with your own people. Adora may not be perfect but I'd rather see her vision of what Greenvale could become than support yours" he bowed slightly, a last bit of respect that remained for his King and Father before leaving the room
