Narrator POV:
An old adage tells us that " A disaster rarely comes alone" and it's relevance was, once again, forced into Adoras mind when she stepped out of the Castle and looked over to the fleet of ships that loomed threatening in the distance, flying not only the Flags of Greenvale and house Gray skull but also that of the Church. Her mother had intended to make a statement of "I can drag you home whenever I want" but the Churches involvement made it rather clear that Adoras safety was no longer paramount to her
"So... Mother wants us dead?" she wondered out loud but calmer minds prevailed "No... no matter what she has become, she would never risk our lives to make a point... something is wrong here"
Catra, noticing the princess sudden distress, took her hand and gave it a small, reassuring squeeze, accompanied by a smile "He's gonna be okay"
"Adam better be... let's see if we are" she said and thanked Catra with a wink, Netossa watching them the whole time in a mixture of shock and awe
Lonnie on the other hand seemed fascinated by so many ships "Never seen them like this before" she said and couldn't get her eyes of them
---
The Harbor was, understandably, in quite the uproar. People were shouting and whispering that they couldn't let them in, not being able to accommodate so many sailors and that they would bring them all death, were they to land on shore
"We better get this sorted sooner rather than later" Netossa muttered, noticing the aggressive mood in the air
"Mother never tends to see the long term consequences of her actions" the princes lamented and took Catra to her side, whispering "If things go south, i'm gonna need you to use your magic and get to Mermista as fast as you can"
"You expect me to leave you if they get aggressive?"
"I expect you to do what only you can do... and safe us all" she answered, looking at the ships in the distance "If anything happens here, it could mean War and the Church may just want that to make hunting us easier"
"...I hate how right you are" answered the hybrid and slid her hand back into the blondes so that the fabric of their, rather leisure clothing, would cover them both. They had both opted for Pants with long sleeved shirts that puffed out their Fabrics to the point where both could be mistaken for Male with only small changes and an outfit that made running around a lot easier
"I'm going to be okay... I can't die, remember?"
"I know... but what it takes from you, scares me" she held her hand more tight, feeling her raised body heat and sweat from them "I already lost too much time to be with you... in whatever way possible"
Before Adora could answer, they had reached the Ship. The "Fortuna Darla" was a sight to behold with her 3 Masts reaching high above them, the Frigate stood nearly unmoved my the slight ebb and flow of the Waters below her. Adora had fond memories of seeing it being built, being fascinated by the Craftsmanship and ingenuity it took to create, the fine artworks depicting her family crest of the Sword surrounded by wings and how she and her sister ran it's deck when it was finished.
They slowly went up the ramp that connected the dock with the ship until they could hear a familiar voice "Oi who do we ave ere? Got the princess right fast didnsha, Netty". The figure of Cpt. Seth Hillbrand slowly came into sight as they walked up the ramp, a Person that was always an afterthought in Adoras mind. A middle aged Man with short, receding, black hair and a round belly that told of his love for food let none of the unknowing figure that he was indeed a ship captain and his drunk, often slurred speech didn't help in the matter. His glory days long gone, he had spend his pay in every whorehouse and Bar in the City, just another drain on taxes that the poor had to pay for and her Mother would answer for
