Narrator POV:

A few Months had passed and Catra had started to get used to life in the Castle....to most things. Not walking on all fours felt inefficient and wrong but she could deal with that as long as she was in a place that had food and warmth. Her confusion, with Adora, had not been alleviated but had gotten much worse instead. The Girl tried to teach her, she understood that but to what end? Why would anyone spend months to end up with a halfway educated hybrid?

She was given permission to walk the halls of the Castle, down to the servants quarters but never was she to step near the throne room or anywhere on the upper floors in which Adoras sister and brother had their rooms. She had no problem with it, preferring Adoras room most of the days, immersing herself in the study of whatever Adora was trying to teach her...but on days as today, curiosity of some of the smells coming from the kitchen or her need to explore came back and she walked, now on her Feet only, through the cold halls of the Castle

"Did you hear? Rumor has it that Prince Adam is going to stay for another year in Frieren" a maid said and Catra hid herself behind a pillar out of reflex. While she still had trouble with the language, she knew who Adam was as Adora had mentioned him a few times. She didn't talk much about her siblings and Catra had yet not met either of them, Princess Glimmer being away at her aunt's summer Villa and her Brother scheduled to return at the beginning of the next year...Adora called them "The pompous one" and "the idiot".

Catra didn't want to be seen so she made her way up the pillar and onto the thick, wooden beams that lined the ceiling, watching the Maids walk underneath her with her Tail swaying calmly from side to side. Months of good food, constant warmth and better treatment than she ever had, resulted in the return of her natural agility and strength, much to the hybrid's joy. She was about to leave when she heard Adoras voice a few rooms ahead of her, her enhanced hearing picking up the voice of the princess seemingly from anywhere

"So they did try to screw us?"

Balancing herself on the wooden Beams, she followed them to the Door, she could hear the princesses' voices coming from and listened attentively. Adora was conversing with someone the hybrid had never heard before, a female voice that had something... odd about it

"She wouldn't dare do so openly...but yes, in essence"

"This is bad...but there's little we can do about it for now. Continue to observe and report if anything happens"

"What if they intend to act?"

"You act first...by order of the Crown"

"Understood"

"As for our Friends at the Border, send word that I would like a Chat...soon"

A few seconds later, Adora walked out of the room and into the hallway, sighed hard and pushed her Hair out of her Face. Catra just watched her, unsure if she would be in trouble for snooping and listening in to her. When she started to move, the hybrid followed her till she saw her push in a stone and the Wall slid aside to reveal a secret passage. before she went in, Adora stopped and turned around

"If you wanna come see...join me"

Without another word, the young princess made her way into the passage and left it open. Catra understood only vaguely what Adora had said but she got the gist of it. With only a second of hesitation, she dropped down and slid into the dark corridor. Inside where cobwebs and darkness, something the hybrid had little trouble with but the smell and anticipation, made her nauseous and let her Hands run cold

At the end of the darkness was a door she carefully pushed open only to hold her Nose from the stank. The room was a small assortment of Bookshelves, a Desk and Adora who was sitting on it, writing something into a big, leathered book "Formaldehyde" she said "Useful stuff but it stinks up the whole Castle full if I don't keep it hidden"
