40: BABY ONE AND BABY TWO

DANTE'S POV

I continuously paced up and down as I became more and more anxious. I kept on telling myself it wasn't a dream. How can it be a dream when her touch felt real? Her voice? It felt so real and good to my ears, I wanted to hear it again

Jayden rushed in and Enzo was in tow with Adriano. Mom and my sisters were here the minute I called them.

When she moved her hands to touch me, I felt ecstatic. I was so shocked and happy, I called for Bernardi to check on her immediately and then called my family, Adriano and Enzo but Jayden was with Enzo so he heard me when I told them she was awake

I believed she was awake but every minute passing by without Bernardi coming out of that door had my hope diminishing.

I've had dreams like this one too many times. I saw her awake, she touched me, spoke to me and even kissed me but none of the touches felt as good as today. She has to be awake and not a dream

"Dante..." my mom started but Bernardi came out

"What is—is she.." Fuck! I was even stuttering

"You can go and see her now" I rushed past Bernardi before he could say anything else. I opened the door and that was when I saw her. She was sitting there and—her eyes. They were opened

I walked to her as fast as I could and hugged her tightly. This wasn't a dream

Is it a dream?

"It isn't" she said to me. She spoke and I looked at her. She was smiling "It isn't a dream" she confirmed before I hugged her again. I didn't know long we hugged but it still wasn't enough "You're crying Dante. This is the second time I'm seeing you cry" she said my name and I wanted to cry all over again

"That's all I've been doing this past months when you wouldn't wake up" I confessed and before she could respond, the door barged open and her cousin came rushing in along with the others

"Oh Kenzie" he hugged her and kept on apologizing as they both cried

"You don't have to apologize Jay. I'm the one who should. I promise I didn't mean to ignore you or hide anything from you"

"I know everything now Kenz and we were the ones who wronged you"

"We're so sorry Kenzie" Elerra said looking down

"I'm so happy you're okay" Ambra went to hug her

"Oh Ambra! You're okay" Kenzie rubbed her hands in Ambra's hair and she nodded "I was so scared something would happen to you"

"We made you go through all that alone and we're so sorry" when my mom said that, Kenzie immediately became frightened and looked at her stomach. She touched her tummy to confirm and looked at me with tears in her eyes

"My-my baby!" she wailed "I wanted you to save it" her cries became loud now and I rushed to comfort her before a nurse walked in with the babies. I guess my family may have already told the nurse to bring the twins in

"You asked me to save them so I did" I informed before her eyes went to the two little bassinets the nurse brought in

"Them?" She looked at me with huge, wet eyes "They were...they're twins?" I nodded with a smile and her hands flew to her lips as she cried. I took the first baby as my mom took the second and I walked back to her, handing her the first one

"He's beautiful" she sniffed

"Yes he is" I looked at him too before my mom put the other baby in her left hand

"He's also beautiful. They're so cute" I laughed when I saw her happiness "I really made them? We made them, Dante" she couldn't take her eyes off them

"My brother wouldn't even see them until you did" Ambra blabbed and Kenzie looked at me
