12: I'M NOT LIKE YOU

Mackenzie's POV

     "I agreed to marry Mr Moretti" I blurted out to J after a long consideration. I was scared he was going to be judgmental about my reckless decision.

We were now chilling out on the couch after eating dinner and watching a movie but I couldn't concentrate because I was still thinking of today's events

"You did what?" he turned to look at me with a popcorn between his lips

"I know, I know. I wasn't supposed to make such a haste decision but I didn't know what else to do"

"Calm down and tell me everything" he got comfortable on the couch

"Okay so after I'd agreed to marry him, he took me to his office to sign a document..."

"A document?"

"Yes, it stated the consequences if there was a breach in the contract by either party, and the fact that it's a marriage of convenience, should be kept under wraps. The marriage contract is going to last for six months"

"Six months? Why just six months?"

"I wanted to ask too but he said he doesn't like questions" I flushed a little remembering what transpired when I disregarded his commands earlier

"You're blushing! What else happened?"

"Nothing" I squeaked

"Oh it's definitely something" he urged and smiled waiting for me to spill

"Well he's always teasing me so I thought giving him a taste of his own medicine would be fun"

"What did you do?" he whispered clearly amused

"You know I—I tried acting seductive...just like how you—you taught me last time..." he didn't say anything so I continued "... but it didn't seem to work. He was unfazed by my actions. I did a bad job, I think"

"You really did that to a Casanova? I'm beginning to like him more than I did because he ignites something in you. He's hot, isn't he?"

"Maybe" I said

"I've always wanted you to have a boyfriend so you can move on from that scumbag but I didn't expect you to get a husband instead" J said casually but I began to feel uneasy at the memory of the topic

"How did your day go?" I asked trying to change the subject

"You're running from your problems again, Kenz" he stated

"No I'm not"

"Of course you'd deny it. I understood when you didn't want to talk about it when it happened but it's several months now. Don't get hurt by trying to keep it to yourself, I'm here for that" he smiled and I nodded

"Let's talk about you" I still wasn't ready for that subject

"Okay but only because I love you so I'll tell you about my day instead"

"Okay spill" I was glad he agreed

"So I had a client today and I was supposed to treat this little girl with a phobia. The little girl came with her mom and the woman said her husband would be joining. Guess who the husband was"

"Who?" I asked

"Javan"

"Javan? Your Javan?"

"Yes him. Turns out he's married with a kid and one yet to be born. My relationship ended before it started"

"Oh Jay, are you okay?"

"Of course I'm okay. Look at me, I'm hot so I'll find someone else soon" he smiled
