Mackenzie's POV

"JAY I'll see you in the evening byeeee" I shouted and slammed the door so loud knowing he'd be cussing at me from his room. I only gave a wicked smile from just the thought and that was pure satisfaction

He decided to spend his entire evening in the club just because it's was a Friday and now he was trying to sleep off his hangover on this fine Saturday morning

I moved slowly down the stairs and I could feel the chills on them due to the light dusting of snow. We were in early-December already and I was starting to get that all too familiar feeling of the year. Lots of people have different preferences for each season but I just loved them all. I saw each season to be quite special and perceptible in its own way

I didn't want to wear much today because the snow had been wispy as the days ran along

I walked onto the street with short strides because I decided not to take the bus to work today. It's almost Christmas and I wanted to experience the events... with my eyes. I didn't even get to have a special someone besides Jay, who was probably snoring so loudly alongside Mrs. Huang's Pomeranian

Mrs. Huang was our neighbor and her Pomeranian was a really friendly cute puppy. It spent most of its days with us seeing that it got to be lazy and overly treated with lots of treats and love

"Kenzie" A chirpy voice called out to me and I instantly cringed knowing exactly who it was. I turned to fully face her with a wide forced smile. Maybe I shouldn't give her the impression that I wanted to talk and I think she knows that no one wants to talk to her

"Melody!! It's been a while" I faked enthusiasm

"Yeah I had to take advantage of the winter vacation and have a little bae-cation. I can't waste this vacation for nothing" I tried so hard not to wince as she spoke. She had the crunchiest voice but still won't refuse to stop talking about others

Jay and I knew her since we were kids and in high school too and unfortunately for me, I had to meet her again in college. So she talks a lot, gossip a lot, brags a lot and of course tell lies a lot. That's all there was to know about Melody.

"Oh really?? So are..."

"I heard your cousin is still gay. Jay...Jayden right? Just let him know he'll surely overcome it. My aunt's son was one as well but he's normal now, and what about Stacy? I haven't heard from her for months now. Sometimes I wonder if she's still my best friend. I remember how you you use to argue with her. I guess you're still single after your first guy but I can introduce you to lots of influential men who are my friends" She rudely interrupted me and once she sat on the lover's bench, I knew she wouldn't stop chirping soon.

"Oh shoot!! So sorry Melody I have to run, I have an urgent appointment but it was interesting talking to you and all. We'll talk more when school resumes, bye" I hurriedly walked away the moment I started speaking.

From a distance, I could hear her asking about my "urgent appointment"

Why did it have to be today of all days. She had ruined my day and I have suddenly lost interest in walking. I walked to the street to get a coffee and maybe cookies to make the day sweeter...again.

I was already tired from school and then work. I was a college student and I was glad to be in my final year because there was so much stress. We were currently on vacation but I was interning in a hospital and I got to have a part time job in a renowned restaurant. Jay secured that job for me and don't ask me how he did it because I didn't know either. He knew lots of people and had lots of unnecessary connections.
