❛ she made me nervous ❜
𝐵𝐼𝐿𝐿𝑌 𝐴𝑁𝐷 𝑀𝐴𝑋 𝐻𝐴𝐷 gone back to their house just a few hours ago. They weren't sure if everything had died down, but that was usually how these situations played out, so they counted on it. If not, they'd go home after a few hours. Jacqueline did say that her door was always open, even to Max. She didn't want her to have nowhere to go.
Jacqueline was currently out front with her brother, Wesley. Thomas and Mary were out taking Mindy to a vet's appointment while their kids were raking the leaves. It was a rare occurrence where Jacqueline wasn't in a giant sweater. She was working outside and at her own house, so she was in her regular red converse and blue jeans with a white tank top tucked into her waistband. The scars up her arms were visible, but she didn't mind for right now.
Jacqueline and Wesley were working quietly together since it was quite tiring after some time until all of a sudden, Dustin Henderson, one of the kids Wesley babysits, had walked right across the leaf pile Jacqueline had been working on and went right up to her. "Hi."
"You just wrecked the work I've been doing for an hour, you little punk." Jacqueline did not know this kid well, but she knew Dustin well enough to know that he was hilariously obnoxious. She too knew from Wesley that he needed humbling.
"You have a bad attitude."
"You have a bad haircut." Jacqueline retorted, to which Dustin reacted with an over-dramatic expression. He was able to shove it off quickly, seeing that the bigger issue at hand was more important and also the reason he was there. "You're lucky I need your help. Let's go."
As Dustin began to walk away, Jacqueline only leaned her arms on her rake, not moving to follow him. Dustin realized that she wasn't going, so he came back as Wesley joined his sister, curious as to why this kid was here. Dustin pointed out, "I said let's go."
"I'm not just gonna do as some little kid demands." Jacqueline defended herself, to which Dustin was actually offended this time. "I am not little! I am five-foot-three and a half!"
