Jacqueline found peace in this strange bonfire she created, she needed a break from the chaos inside. There were demogorgans attacking, arguing, everything that just happened with Steve. Jacqueline had a lot of complicated emotions within her heart.
It still hadn't quite computed in Jacqueline's mind that she walked right past Eleven, who had been missing, presumable dead, for months. Jacqueline did miss El, as they call her, even if they didn't spend too much time together. It was the mutual understanding that drove their bond.
El had walked outside and sat down right next to Jacqueline, wanting to actually say hello instead of being brushed off. Jacqueline still wasn't exactly paying attention, so she glanced over to El a moment, still not realizing who it was. But as soon as it dawned on her, her head snapped back. "When did you get here?"
"You walked inside. You saw me." El responded simply, having remembered that Jacqueline walked right by her when dragging out that dead demodog or demogorgan. Jacqueline furrowed her eyebrows, not recalling a moment of that, but some other strange issue did strike her mind, "Didn't you die or something?"
El shook her head, seeing as how she was sitting right there. Jacqueline hummed in response, acknowledging that she was wrong. Jacqueline proceeded to put her arm out, bringing El into a side hug. She wanted this girl to be comforted, Jacqueline knew she needed it.
As the two girls looked at the fire, they marvelled in the peace they felt, peace they never get to experience. Jacqueline hadn't seen El in a long time and she thought she never would again. Of course she was happy to see El, but she assumed everything had or was going to freak out about her being back. El needed some quiet.
"You're okay, right?" Jacqueline confirmed, earning a nod from El, who proceeded to rest her head on Jacqueline's shoulder. El didn't trust easily, for obvious reasons, but she had come to trust Jacqueline solely because she knew exactly what El had been through. Jacqueline was the only one that didn't coddle her, but also didn't overwork her.
