𝐷𝐸𝑆𝑃𝐼𝑇𝐸 𝐽𝐴𝐶𝑄𝑈𝐸𝐿𝐼𝑁𝐸'𝑆 𝐶𝑂𝑁𝑆𝑇𝐴𝑁𝑇 𝑁𝐴𝐺𝐺𝐼𝑁𝐺 at Steve to attempt to get him to stay back, he was the one driving them to Dustin's house. Jacqueline was desperate to keep him safe, hopeful that he would learn a thing or two about last time and not almost die. Jacqueline was happy to risk her life if that meant Steve was far away from the Upside Down problem, but he thought the exact same way.
Steve and Jacqueline were in the front, him being their driver on this adventure while Dustin and Wesley were in the back seat. Dustin had already explained everything that happened with this baby demogorgan; how he found it in his garbage can at Halloween and, for some reason, decided to keep it. Dustin had been raising Dart, as he calls it, but he had gotten too big and too violent. So, he needed Jacqueline's help to get rid of it. Steve was only there to protect Jacqueline and Wesley had nothing better to do.
They were driving through the night with Hammer to Fall by Queen playing on the radio. They were still all having a hard time comprehending the strangeness of their situation -- as if it wasn't already weird enough. Steve had to recall, confused by the demogorgan's size since he saw how big the grown one was. "Wait a sec. How big?"
"That's what she said." Wesley muttered from the back seat, earning a pointed glare from his sister. "Shut up, Wes."
"First, it was like that. Now, he's like this." Dustin was showing them with his hands that Dart had gone from a small, tadpole-like being to now the size of about a medium sized dog. They still weren't sure if Dustin was imagining things or if he was lying. Of course, everyone in the car knew about the Upside Down, about El, about Jacqueline, demogorgans. The issue was that this didn't fit everything that they already knew.
"I swear to god, man, it's just some little lizard, okay?" Steve pointed out, Jacqueline reiterating with her own experience, "Yeah, I never saw a demogorgan that looked like a dog and I ran around the Upside Down for days."
