Chapter 19

Jason smiled as he watched Leo, who was laying on the floor, watching Festus in his cage.

"You sure you don't want to take him out for a few moments?" Jason asked.
"Nah, I'll leave him be today. Probably has been tough, being with you and Reyna, and then having to hear his dad yelling at you~" Leo sighed out.
"His dad?" Jason raised his eyebrows.
"Festus is now my son." Leo looked back at Jason.
Jason smiled at Leo.

"Does that make me his other dad or-?" Jason began.
"We aren't officially a couple." Leo said, sitting up on the floor and shuffling about to face Jason.
"You've kissed me like multiple times ever since you got back home." Jason stated.
"Because I love you and you bought me a bearded dragon??" Leo raised his eyebrows.
Jason's cheeks turned red and he let out a soft sigh as he smiled.

"Okay. Dinner date, tomorrow night. I'll make us a romantic meal here, so that you don't instantly start to worry about Festus and being away from him for too long already." Jason said.
Leo smiled.
"And let me guess, you'll ask me out to be your boyfriend during this dinner?" Leo titled his head.
"Well, don't spoil it." Jason rolled his eyes.
Leo couldn't help but laugh out softly.

Jason bit his inner cheek as he looked at Leo. Leo looked at Jason and noticed something was a little off.
"You okay?" Leo asked, getting up from the floor.
Leo made his way over and he sat down next to Jason. Leo rested his head on Jason's shoulder.
Jason gently kissed Leo's head.

"Just...are you sure you're ready to move on?" Jason asked softly.
"I mean, you and Calypso-"
"I definitely am." Leo said, lifting his head and staring right into Jason's eyes.
"Jason, you have treated me way better than Calypso ever has and you're not even my boyfriend, well yet anyway, and... it's like you told me."

Jason tilted his head at Leo, waiting for him to specify what he said. Leo smiled as he recalled what Jason said when he came here after Calypso broke up with him.
"That someone will come. You will realize that they are worth more than Calypso ever was." Leo repeated.
"And when I asked how I would know, you just said that I would. That I'll feel way different than I was with Calypso."
Jason hummed quietly.

Leo smiled at Jason.
"I didn't need someone new to come into my life to show me that I deserved better, I just needed you." Leo stated, holding eye contact with Jason.
Jason seemed to smile and he leaned in.
"Shit, you're gonna make me go crazy, Valdez." Jason whispered.
"You bought a bearded dragon for me, I think I already made you go crazy." Leo retorted, his voice more quiet now too.

Jason didn't say anything else, he simply pressed their lips together and Leo sunk into it, gently cupping Jason's face as they began to kiss.
Jason tilted his head, deepening the kiss. Leo felt his heart skip a beat and he pulled away, meeting Jason's gaze.

"Alright, no more kissing. Especially in front of my sweet baby Festus." Leo said, glancing at the cage as he took his hands away from Jason's face.
"You've had Festus for like an hour or so and you're already so attached to him." Jason stated.
"Cause he is my son!" Leo exclaimed.
Jason smiled.
"Alright, alright." Jason sighed.

"What do you want to do now then?" Jason asked, wrapping an arm around Leo's shoulder.
"Erm, I think I should tell you something." Leo said.
"... Go on?" Jason raised his eyebrows.

Leo tapped his fingers against his leg.
"I sort of met up with Calypso today." Leo confessed.
Jason blinked. "... What?"
Leo kept his gaze away from Jason.
"She messaged me a little while ago, wanting to talk to me. I decided to just go, hear her out, maybe get some closure. So, I went to her place today and... yeah, I realised how shitty it was with her." Leo began to explain.

"And then you messaged me and... I realised that I wanted to be with you because you called this place home."
Jason raised his eyebrows.
"Because I called this place home?" Jason questioned.
"And also because you bought me a bearded dragon, but yeah. I haven't had a place that I was happy to call home for a while now." Leo answered.

Jason hummed.
"Calypso didn't do anything to you?" Jason asked.
"Said anything crappy?"
"... Not really. I called her a bitch though, that was fun." Leo smiled at Jason.
"... I'm very proud of you." Jason nodded at Leo.
Jason leaned in, kissing Leo's forehead.
"Awh, that's sweet of you~" Leo grinned.

"Seriously, next time talk to me if she contacts you again."
"Oh! I still need to block her, thanks for reminding me!"
"..."
