"Well, then do something about it if it bothers you so much. Assuming he even likes me, because that seems so impossible in your head to me." Her words felt like daggers. She turned to storm off and Link's mind screamed at him to move. But his body stayed. Her anger was radiating off of her and he knew it was better to give her some time to cool off. This wasn't how he was expecting this all to go. After that night in the bar, they had a great two months exploring Zora's Domain, and the Eldin Province, with some breaks in between. They came back to Ordon after going into Kakariko Village to check in on the shop and now it's turned into a fight. Once she was out of his sight, he huffed and ran a hand down his face. 'How the hell am I gonna fix this?'
Link had picked to start an argument over her friend, Jay. He found it strange how concerned Jay seemed to be about Y/n only traveling on her own. He claimed it was because she could handle herself but Link saw right through him. He knew Jay had feelings for her. Because of this, Link didn't like him very much. Anytime they passed through the village, she went to see him and the shop. He wished she wouldn't. This time, it was different. He overheard Jay through the door telling her not to travel with Link anymore.

-A few hours ago-
'You're never gonna find yourself sticking around with him.'
'Jay, he's my friend. I enjoy his company.'
'That's not the point. Besides, I don't trust the guy.'
'The guy who saved us all from a life in Twilight?'
'Okay, that's not fair. I didn't say I don't respect him, I just don't trust him. Especially when it comes to you.'
'Yeah, okay. Anyway, I gotta go.'
'He's just using you, Y/n. You don't really know him. He's gonna let you down.'
'Bye, Jay.'

She walked outside and saw Link waiting for her. "Come on." She grabbed his wrist and they walked over to the spring. "You alright?" She saw the upset look he had on his face but he shook his head. He didn't want to argue over that. She sighed and they left the village. "Let's go to your house. I'd like to sleep in a bed and see my uncle." They went to Ordon. On the way there, the conversation was still eating at him. What could Jay possibly mean that Link would let her down? 'Especially when it comes to her?'
"Link, if you keep thinking that hard your head is gonna explode. What's going on?" He shook his head. "Link."
"What is Jay to you?"
"A friend."
"Is that all?"
"Yes?"
"I don't like him"
"I figured you didn't. He doesn't seem to like you, either."
"Yeah, well, whatever."
"Is there something wrong?"
"I don't get why he has to put stuff in your head about me."
"You were eavesdropping, weren't you."
"I'm not trustworthy? Like he knows anything about that." She sighed. "Link, it doesn't matter."
"It does. Do you think the same thing?"
"What? No! I trust you."
"I don't get why you always have to see him."
"I'm not, I'm checking up on my shop that he's taking care of for me." Link just stayed silent.
"Link?" He ignored her, the feeling of contempt toward her friend souring his mood. "I'd like for you guys to one day be friends, you know. You're both important to me."
"Not happening."
"Why exactly do you not like him? It can't just be because he doesn't trust you."
"He's just...I just don't. Plus, he's always looking at you like you're some kind of meal he wants to scarf down."
"What?"
"He likes you."
"Wha- Link, please. He does not."
"He does, and he's terrible at hiding it."
"Well, what does it matter to you anyway?" She was hoping deep down he'd say it was because he was jealous. Because he liked her, too. "Just bothers me. I don't get why he has to act that way about you."
"That way? You mean, in a way that he has feelings for me? Is that so hard for you to understand? That someone could like me that way?"
"What? No." Link didn't mean for it to come off that way but he didn't want her to know he could possibly also like her. "So then?"
"It's just annoying. He could back off. What if someone else liked you and got the wrong idea? They'd probably be discouraged or something."
"Who else likes me?"
"I don't know. I'm just saying." She couldn't understand his anger. If he didn't like her, why did he care if someone else showed her a little admiration? They had reached Ordon and gotten off their horses. "Link, who cares."
"Clearly not you."
"Well, maybe it's nice to have someone show some interest in me."
"Yeah, that's what he's doing." He rolled his eyes. To Link, it seemed like Jay was trying to control who Y/n was with. To Y/n, it seemed like Link was trying to insinuate that someone showing interest in her was unbelievable. "Well, then do something about it if it bothers you so much. Assuming he even likes me, because that seems so impossible in your head to me." With that, she took off.

Night had come around and she still hadn't turned up. His concern grew with each passing minute. Her horse was still at his house so she must've been near. He went up to sleep and hoped she'd return before he woke up, assuming she'd stay at her uncles for the night.
There was still no sign of her the next morning. He noticed her bag on her horse was gone and both horses had been fed, she had been there but left again. He had been waiting by the entrance of his house to see if she'd pass through. Another five minutes went by and he had grown extremely frustrated. He got up and started walking. He had no idea where he was going but he was gonna find her.
Another three hours of looking had passed. Not only was he angry, but extremely worried too. What if something had happened to her? What if she wasn't coming back? Was she really that upset with him? He'd never forgive himself. He made his way back to Ordon to get Epona. He initially thought she wouldn't have gone further than walking distance from Ordon but now he was guessing she had gone off. As he approached his horse, he heard something upstairs in his house. He made his way up the ladder and opened the door with one hand on his sword. He cracked the door open and then his eyes landed on Y/n. She had returned to his house while he was gone. He released his sword and let out the biggest sigh of relief.
She turned to face him. "Link, I'm sorry. I know I left on my own. I just needed some space to calm down. I shouldn't ha-"
"I don't care about that. I care that you left for so long! I get needing space but you were gone for hours, I thought something happened to you! You can't just leave like that."
"I'm fine, Link. I came back not that long ago, Rusl told me you left but he wasn't sure where. I figured I'd come here and wait till morning to see if you came back."
"You can't just disappear on me. You want space? That's fine. Walk around a rock and don't look at me for a few minutes! Just don't leave like that."
"I didn't disappear. I left to calm down for a day."
"You don't get it, do you? I was worried about you. I was losing my mind looking for you. You don't get how important you are to me." Her cheeks had gone pink from his confession of care for her. Not only that, he'd managed to basically give her a lecture. He wasn't one for talking much so he clearly was very stressed out over it. She had feelings for him but never thought he could reciprocate them. "Well, I'm here now. I'm sorry for making you a little crazy." She smiled at him and noticed he visibly relaxed at that. He sighed again and pulled her into a hug. He laid his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes. She wrapped her arms around him and rubbed his back to comfort him.
A few minutes passed and he finally pulled back to look at her. His hand moved to the side of her face. He held her like that and glanced down at her lips. For months he'd been dying to kiss them. "Link?" He looked back up at her eyes. He leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Next time just punch me or something." She laughed and he released her.

They decided to call it a night and ended up sharing the bed. They had their backs to each other and both of their faces were red from the interaction earlier. 'I can't believe I thought about kissing her...she's driving me crazy.' He couldn't stop thinking about her.
'He cares about me that much...and that kiss, it was so sweet.' She only thought about him.
They fell asleep to each other and dreamed of a day they could admit their feelings to each other.
A day where they could finally feel each other's kiss.
