Shooting up from her spot, she ran out to find Link after hearing his painful scream. She looked around desperately but couldn't see him. Panic set in her as she called out for him. She looked down and saw the core of the apple he was eating on the ground, forgotten. She chewed the inside of her cheek, anxiously. She continued on looking for him, hoping she'd come across him soon and unscathed.

Her horse followed close behind her, ready to take off at a moment's notice should she hop on. After an hour, she hadn't found him, not even a clue. Frustrated, she huffed and felt her eyes begin to water. Then, the rustling of a bush took her attention. She turned around hopeful but saw nothing. A sigh left her pink lips. Her heart's pace had gone back to normal. But he could hear the mumbling coming from her.

He stepped out and came closer to her, slowly and quietly. Her horse's ears flicked and her tail swished in agitation. Hearing her horse huff, she turned and her entire body froze up. Eyes wide, she felt her blood turn to ice in her veins. Her heart slammed against her chest as the wolf stood staring at her.

She felt her lungs aching but she feared that taking a breath would set it upon her. Its eyes focused on her, it sat. She inched closer and closer to her horse. 'I better make it. This is a stupid move but I can't stay here.' Her hand moved to her side, gripping the reins. She stared right into its piercing blue eyes.

Then, in an instant, she jumped on her horse and cracked the reins, her horse setting off so fast, that she felt like they were flying. The wolf was chasing them and she looked back to see it dashing towards them. Her eyes set with determination. "Okay, (h/n), work with me." She turned sharply and drew an arrow. Shooting towards the wolf, she only aimed to scare it off. The arrow flew and sunk into the ground beside the wolf, startling it. 'Weird, I didn't expect it to actually care.' It slowed to a stop and let her escape. She rode all the way to Castle Town and only let herself calm down until she and her horse were safely inside. She left her horse at a new stable they built and went to find May.

"A wolf? Thank Hylia you're alright!"

"I know. I got lucky. But I'm so worried about Link. I heard him scream like he was in pain. And then I couldn't find him. What if something or someone hurt him?"

"That is strange. But, you have to hope he's okay. He's the Hero! He can handle himself." She laid a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I hope."

"Maybe he chased whatever hurt him and got lost. Maybe he's clearing out the monsters so you two can travel in peace."

"I don't know. I just want to know he's okay."

"He will be. Now, sit down and I'll cook you some dinner and you can sleep here. You look exhausted. I'll send Chris out to feed (h/n) and make sure she's comfy, alright?" She nodded, her words leaving her as worry took over like a disease.

After dinner, she laid down on the comfortable bed May made up for her. She couldn't stop thinking about Link. Was he okay? Was he hurt? Was he in trouble? She shook her head vigorously as if would toss out all the bad thoughts. Miraculously, she managed to rest.

That morning, May demanded she eat breakfast before she headed out. Finally, she sat and enjoyed the delicious food she was given.

"Thank you, May. Now, I'm gonna go. No!" May attempted to argue she should stay a bit longer. "I gotta start finding some kind of clue as to where he is." With a heavy sigh and a frown, May let her go. She had packed her bag with food and medical supplies in case of an emergency. "Be careful! I'm serious, Y/n! That wolf can track you down!" She waved her hand at her friend, dismissing her words. "Well, maybe I'll ask it where Link is." May just shook her head at her friend and said goodbye.

Y/n left Castle Town and began to wonder who she could ask for help. "Hylia, what do I do? Where could he be?" She pulled out a map and began to create a route in her mind of where to go. "Maybe I could ask Renado? No, he wouldn't know what could've happened any more than I do. Shit." She thought over the strange circumstances in which he just seemingly disappeared. 'He was acting really weird. What did the spirit say to him?' She wished she could have a way to communicate with the forces higher than her the way he could.

Groaning, she ran a hand through her hair. She folded the map and stuffed it back into her bag. Silently, she and her horse made their way through Hyrule Field. Her head was filled with running thoughts and worries.

With her thoughts distracting her, she hadn't noticed the bokoblins running to her. Her horse suddenly changed directions and she slipped off the saddle. With a grunt, she landed hard on her back. She looked to the monsters coming to her and scrambled to get up and grab her sword, only to realize it was secured on her horse. "Shit, shit, shit." She cursed as she tried to draw an arrow.

The wolf came towards her, running at an inhumane pace. Her breath hitched and she shut her eyes waiting for the impact. Instead, all she felt was the wind rush past her and heard the sickening close of its jaw on a bokoblin. She was too scared to turn and watch the scene beside her, she could only pray to the goddess the wolf would have its fill of a hunt and leave her.

However, it didn't. When she heard nothing, she moved to stand up and run but stilled herself. She had stood up and turned her head to assure herself the wolf ran off but saw something rather interesting. Seeing the wolf sitting there, its tail wagging like a dog as its eyes bore into her, made her stand there. "You saved me." As if it knew what her words meant it moved its head, similar to a nod. "Okay, if you're not going to eat me...spin." And it spun. "Sit." And it sat. "Roll over." And it rolled over.

"Hmm. Fine. Look, Wolfy, a friend of mine is missing. Assuming you actually can understand me, I know you can track. I need help finding him." The wolf tilted its head. Y/n fought every urge in her to squeal and tell it how cute it looked. However cute it was, what stood out to her was the mesmerizing blue eyes it possessed. "You've got pretty eyes, wolfy." It snorted at the nickname. "You like it? Well, if you don't then too bad." She walked off and patted the side of her thigh to beckon it to follow. It trotted next to her and then sat in front of her horse. Her horse snorted and huffed. 'I wonder if animals do really understand each other.' She mounted her horse and they went back to where she thought Link last was. "This is where he must've been last." The wolf sniffed around and started walking towards where they first encountered each other.

Getting off her horse, she followed it to the bush it originally was hiding in. In the bush, was Link's shield and sword. "What? How?" She looked at the wolf accusingly. "So, did you find this here or did you eat him?" It huffed, annoyed. It nudged its head against the gear and she gathered it. "Oh, hylia, how does Link lug around this shield." She grunted and set it on her back. "Okay, you saw him, where is he now? Did something take him? Or you just found this?" The wolf simply stared. "Am I seriously interrogating a wolf? What is with me?" She was lost in thought as the wolf just sat there.

After all, how was he supposed to tell her the person she was looking for was in front of her in wolf form? She might pass out from shock.  He wanted to find a way to get out of this form. Before, it was easy for him to swap between them. Now, though, he couldn't. He had changed when he didn't want to and had no clue as to how he was going to get back to his human form. All he could do was lead her around Hyrule safely until he figured it out.

She dug into her bag and pulled out some leather. It was a strip of leather with a metal clasp she kept in her bag, she said her mother used it as a collar on her old childhood pet. "Alright, you better not bite my face off. I'm gonna put this on you so people know you're a pet. Which you're not!" She put her hands in front of her, afraid to offend him. "Just so they think you are..." She trailed off and kneeled in front of him. Carefully, she clasped it onto him. "Fits perfectly! We used to have to twist it into a double loop to fit my dog comfortably, she wasn't a big dog." Her words came out with a tone of reminiscence and love. She smoothed down his fur and looked into his eyes. "Well, aren't you nice?" She pet his head and then walked back to her horse. Had she looked just an inch to the side, she would've seen that familiar blue earring.
