A couple of days had passed since Link reunited with Y/n. After a very long night of explanations and questions, the friendship had mended. However, the romantic situation did not. There was an awkward atmosphere that established itself as they both sat by the river. Link, however, began to feel very strange. His teeth began to hurt, the back of his left hand burned, and suddenly everything was...louder than it should've been.

He tried to focus his mind on something else but the pain kept setting in. "Link, we should go to the desert. I've always wanted to go and see the fairy in the Cave. We didn't get to last time we went." Link looked to her with a smile, somewhat strained, and nodded. "Are you okay?" He nodded, again. However unsure he felt of himself, he didn't want to worry her. "I'm just gonna say goodbye to my parents." He stood up to go to.

"Darling, you make sure you two are careful. The desert is a nasty place." Link reassured them he would keep her safe. After Y/n and Link said goodbye and promised to be back soon, they left. As they walked, Link took notice of how loud the rushing river sounded. The sun was beating down on them though he knew it would be nothing compared to the desert sun. Y/n adjusted her bag on her and Link's ear twitched. He felt and heard everything. It was a feeling he'd had before but he couldn't place it.

"Link? You sure you're feeling alright?" She stopped them both and put her right hand on his forehead. Link felt like he could hear her heart, the blood rushing in her veins. He felt like he could smell the sweet scent her skin emitted. He convinced himself he was going crazy. He took her hand off his forehead with his left hand and held it. They both looked down at their intertwined hands but Link saw something else. He quickly released her hand and continued walking, holding his hands together. "I'm fine. Just a headache." She didn't believe him but let the issue go.
"Maybe we should postpone the trip? I think all the running around has taken its toll on you." He shook his head. "Link, you don't look good."
"And here I thought you liked me." Her face heated up and she tried to talk but all that came out were stutters. "I'm kidding, Y/n. Are you okay?" He turned to face her and leaned in dangerously close to her. "Y-yeah. I'm fantastic." She sounded out of breath as if Link's close proximity took the air out of her lungs. With a smug smirk, he backed away and continued on. "Let's get some soup at Snowpeak. It'd be nice to enjoy the cold for a minute. You can meet Yeto and his wife." Y/n had no objections, she just walked silently.

Once they passed the Domain and got into the snow, she looked around and took in the cold land. Snow covered every inch of the ground. She unconsciously walked ahead of him as she looked at the trees and the sky. The light reflected off the snow and, to Link, gave Y/n an ethereal light. She looked over her shoulder to make sure Link hadn't sunk into the deep snow and gave him a smile. The usual brilliance only seemed to amplify with the current surroundings. He felt himself smiling back at her, his mind feeling a bit hazy at the sight of her looking so heavenly.

They made their way through and only had to deal with a few annoying wolfos. With every step they took, Link felt more and more agitated. What was going on with him? Suddenly, he bit his tongue on accident. He made no sound of pain, but it was evident on his face. His mouth had a familiar iron taste to it. 'Did I just bite my tongue that hard?' He couldn't figure out why. He ran his tongue over his teeth when he felt his blood run cold. Two sharp canines had replaced his regular teeth. 'Is that even possible?' He went to touch them with his fingers and fear stuck him when he realized they were certainly very sharp. He removed his hand and shut his mouth when Y/n turned around to ask him something. "Is this the way to the manor?" He looked at the gorge they needed to cross and nodded.

Wordlessly, he led her to the frozen leaves they would need to slide down. "This is how we're getting there?" He nodded and smiled, his mouth still shut tight. He motioned for her to copy his moves and they both got on the leaves. He grabbed her hand, set his foot down, and pushed with enough force to set them both off. She gasped and steadied herself, her grip on Link's hand tightening with each swerve. He tried his hardest not to laugh at her.
