When your younger self loves you
Loves you as you are
But loves him as well
You know you've come far
She stares up at him
with wide-open eyes
"I know I can trust you"
She doesn't want to lie
She laughs and smiles
When you're around
Her smile is silly
And her laugh scares the clouds
She loves feeling the wind
Between her fingers, in her hair
She doesn't hate her present self
She lets the world be fair
Fair to give her a chance to smile
To laugh and shout her voice worse for wear
Fair to feel like she can fly
To love the person that you are
She loves you, So I can too
She feels safe, not scared with you
She loves me, so I can too
She lets me know I'm happy with you
