Sadie's P.O.V
*
I'm scrolling through my emails when Stephen taps on my desk.
"You free for a meeting in five?" Stephen asks and I nod.
"Sure. I'll just wrap this up here and then I'll be through." I smile through gritted teeth. The last thing I want is a fucking meeting with Stephen.
I finish up my email and make my way to Stephen's office, I notice Amy smiling at me the whole time. Suck up.
"Shut the door please." Stephen says and I close the door gently behind me. "Take a seat." He instructs and I do so.
"Is everything okay?" I ask as Stephen leans back in his chair.
"I've had some things brought to my attention. Here we are a team Sadie and recently it seems like you haven't been much of a team player." Stephen explains and I sigh.
"Could you please elaborate." I say. "I come to work and I do my job well. If this isn't regarding how this affects my performance or how I am not bringing it to the table for the company I'd like to cut this meeting short." I reply.
At one point Stephen and I worked on the same level, in fact I've been with the company longer than he has and I don't appreciate his new ego since his promotion due to our old manager stepping down.
"The other day I asked you to help to do some filing which you seemed disgruntled by, then you were invited out by the team to go for drinks which you turned down. You just aren't being a team player Sadie."
"I fail to see how me not going to the pub after work makes me less of a team player... like I said does that affect my work performance? Also I would like to point out that filing is for interns. You have a perfectly capable intern out there who could have got the job done efficiently but you asked one of your senior members of staff to take it on instead. Why was that Stephen? Because you have a bit of a crush on Amy?" I grill Stephen.
"You can't say things like that Sadie. I'm your boss." Stephen replies and I know I've struck a nerve.
"You're not my boss. I'm done." I say without hesitation.
"What?"
"I'm done Stephen. I've worked here for years and I won't be pulled into a meeting for something so minuscule. "Not being a team player" because I wouldn't go to the pub is beyond a joke and because I refused to do filing due to doing my own job dealing with clients. No Stephen. I'm done. You can take this as my resignation with immediate effect." I fire at him.
"Woah, Sadie I think this has been misconstrued."
"Oh, and I suggest keeping your relationship with Amy a little more under wraps. If I can see it everyone else certainly can and I very much doubt that higher ups would be happy with that arrangement that you both have going on." I say opening Stephen's office door letting it close behind me.
I head straight to my desk to get my things. I was never one for the office clutter, photos of family and friends on the desk, a small plant, my own set of special pens. Thats really not my thing so I pack up the few things I have including my laptop and place them in my handbag.
