ARLINA WAS SAT IN HER BEDROOM ON HER SINGLE BED, SKETCHING IN HER NOTEPAD. She hadn't noticed her adoptive mother walking into the room until she felt a disturbance in the mattress. The redhead looked up from the page and smiled softly at the sight of Esme.
"Is that Alec Volturi?" Esme asked, nodding her head at the page where there was a small sketch of the said boy, stood with his red eyes. She of course, had to only colour his eyes because they were the most fascinating part about him... that she knew about. It had been a week since the incident in Italy and she just couldn't get him out of her mind.
Arlina hummed in response, taking a quick glance back down at the page before closing the drawing pad, setting her whole attention on Esme, "So... What's up?"
"We've all noticed a difference in you lately, is there anything going on? Does it have anything to do with the boy you're drawing?" Esme inquired, a sweet smile on her face.
"I don't know, when I first locked eyes with him properly, I felt this twinge in my heart, I'm not sure what it was. I've never felt this way before towards anyone, and I don't even know him." Arlina huffed, putting her head in her hands and her elbows leaned against her knees which were in the criss-cross position.
"Honey." Esme took Arlina's hands in her own, pulling them away from her face and sent her a comforting smile, "When I first saw Carlisle after turning, I felt similar. And yes, I didn't really know him either but it felt like I'd known him a thousand years when he spoke. Maybe Alec is your mate."
Arlina scrunched up her nose, she didn't enjoy the fact that he killed humans for satisfaction and caused them pain for pleasure. She shook her head hastily and Esme smiled sadly.
"You'll accept it soon, and we'll all support you." Esme reassured, a knocking at the door interrupted them and they both turned their heads towards Alice, who smiled brightly.
"I had a vision, it was such a beautiful vision. I need Esme. I hope I'm not interrupting a conversation though." Alice smiled guiltily and the two Cullens smiled.
"Of course not, Alice." Arlina smiled up at the pixie-haired vampire, who beamed at her before grabbing Esme's hands and pulling her out of the room.
Arlina rolled her eyes giddily and found herself sketching in her notebook once again. Maybe Alec really was her mate...
