AS ARLINA ARRIVED BACK HOME IN FORKS, SHE COULD HEAR THE CHAOS IN THE CULLEN HOUSEHOLD FROM MILES AWAY. Esme excused herself from the room when she heard the car approaching, she knew the rest of her family had to stay to talk.

She waved at her daughter as the redhead drove up to the house, and the aforementioned girl sped out, jumping into her mother's arms, "I missed you so much, Esme."

"And you too, dear. How was Italy?" Esme asked, pulling away from the embrace with a gentle smile on her face. They were all worried about Arlina visiting the Volturi on her own, not that they doubted she could take care of herself, but she'd definitely not be able to take them all on her own. Esme, however, was the least worried, she knew that Alec would protect her daughter because that's what mates were for.

"It was great, Alec is a sweetheart." Arlina beamed, proving Esme right, she had a feeling Alec was a gentleman at heart.

"I thought so. Let's get you inside, you'll need to hear about this." The older vampire placed her hand on the small of Arlina's back, guiding her inside and Arlina sent her mother a questioning look, she was worried to say the least.

"Hear about what?" Arlina questioned, and when Esme didn't answer, the youngest Cullen sped into the living room where her family — and Bella — were speaking with each other.

"Arlina!" Emmett ran forward and wrapped his muscled arms around his best-friend, causing her to laugh.

"Hello, Arlina." Rosalie smiled sweetly, standing from her seat on the couch and hugging her too, however Emmett wouldn't let go.

"Okay, I'm going to explode, Em." She grumbled, if she was human, she'd definitely be dead.

"Let her go, Emmett." Rosalie demanded with a playful glare towards her husband, and he instantly released the redhead, who smiled brightly.

"Now, what's going on?" Arlina questioned, crossing her arms over her chest, looking around at her family. Carlisle looked towards Edward, and nodded towards him. Arlina snapped her head in his direction and the boy looked to the ground.

"Someone was in Bella's house." Edward stated, and Arlina rolled her eyes at the lack of information he was giving her.

"Do you know who?" She scrunched her brows together, holding her hand out in a 'what's going on?' gesture.

"No. I didn't recognise his scent." He responded and Arlina nodded, thinking about who it could be. It couldn't have been Victoria, Edward could recall her scent and a nomad would've killed Charlie, so it must be someone who knows about Bella and her family.

"A passerby wouldn't have left Bella's father alive." Rosalie mentioned as if she was reading Arlina's mind, and Arlina nodded again in agreement.

"Yeah, it must be someone we know of or even someone who knows someone we know of." Arlina spoke, dropping her arms to her sides and Carlisle hummed in agreement.

"Yes, Arlina's right." He mumbled, looking at the ground, lost in his thoughts. Jasper and Alice waltzed in, and Jasper looked serious, more serious than usual. It scared Arlina slightly, she'd gotten so used to the happy, playful Jasper that she had forgotten about his serious side. The same with Emmett.

"The scent disappeared about five miles south of Bella's house." Jasper stated, taking a glance at every one of his family members before his eyes set on Arlina and he smiled gently towards her. Arlina smiled back, and was pushed back into the wall when Alice ran up to her, engulfing her in a massive embrace.

"I missed you so much, Lina! I missed shopping with you and looking through catalogs and fashion magazines!" Alice squealed at the thought of being able to do those things once again, and Arlina giggled lightly into her sister's shoulder.

"I missed you too, sister." The redhead laughed with her sister when they pulled away but their moment was cut short when Edward cleared his throat, bringing them back to the situation at hand. The two stopped laughing almost instantaneously and steadied themselves, putting their serious faces on.

"Someone's orchestrating this." Carlisle stood up, and balled his fists with a frown.

"Victoria?" Bella questioned from the couch and Arlina shook her head.

"It can't be."

"Yeah, I would have seen her decide." Alice informed, agreeing with her sister.

"Has to be the Volturi." Edward claimed and Arlina shook her head once again, she had a strong feeling it was someone they didn't know but they knew them.

"I don't think it's the Volturi, Ed." Arlina offered, she gave her brother a soft look, he looked so stressed out and it saddened her, she hated seeing her family so worked up.

"I've been watching Aro's decisions. It's definitely not the Volturi." Alice nodded, taking a seat beside Bella on the couch.

"So we keep looking." Emmett grabbed onto Rosalie's hand, needing comfort for the times ahead. He was worried, and not only for his wife's safety, but for his best friends, his siblings, his parents, his family and even Bella's safety, she was now his sister.

"We'll also take shifts guarding Bella at her house." Carlisle told them, and Arlina's face lit up. She was most certainly going to volunteer for the first shift, she missed Charlie very much, they were close despite the small amount of time they'd spent together, similar to her and Alec. Arlina had a tendency of getting super close with people in such a short amount of time, which was why she was going to try incredibly hard to become at least acquaintances with her mate's sister.

"Another protection detail?" Rosalie scoffed, she knew from the start that Bella was a danger to her family and they were all just proving her right.

"Rosalie." Carlisle scolded calmly and Esme sent her a look but Bella shook her head.

"No, she's right." Bella spoke and Edward looked up from the ground towards her as if she was crazy, "You can't protect me, watch my dad and search for the intruder."

"And for Victoria." Rosalie added, and Arlina nodded.

"And keep yourselves fed." Bella finished, shaking her head with her eyes closed.

"I'm not leaving you here defenceless." Edward told her, and Arlina put a warm hand on his bicep with a soft smile, he sent her a look of appreciation. I'll always keep Bella safe, Edward.

"Well, I'm not gonna let you starve." Bella argued, chuckling in disbelief, "And I wouldn't be unprotected. I- I have..."

"What?"

"I have Jacob." Bella ended her sentence, and that was when a whole argument and a half began... and a few fights that Arlina had to break up.
