ARLINA AND ALEC WERE CUDDLED UP ON HIS WINDOWSILL, SHE WAS SAT IN HIS LAP READING A NOVEL SHE WAS GIFTED FROM ARO AND HE HAD HIS ARMS AROUND HER, ENJOYING HER PRESENCE. The words on the page were making Arlina so intrigued and concentrated that she jumped when her phone rang from her duffle-bag that was on the floor beside Alec's wardrobe.

She sped over to the bag and pulled her phone out, the word 'Grizzly' came up on her screen. The redhead clicked accept immediately and pressed the phone to her ear, "Emmett? What's up?"

"Arlina, we need you to get back right away!" Emmett sounded panicked through the phone and Arlina could make out mumbling in the background. Soon enough, she heard Alice's voice slowly get closer.

"No, Emmett. Pass me the phone." Alice spoke, snatching the phone from her brother with a glare, "Hi, Lina!"

"Alice? What's going on?" Arlina scrunched her eyebrows together in distress and Alec jumped up, walking closer to his mate, rubbing her arm gently.

"It's Victoria. She's been back after Bella and Emmett may have got into a feud with Paul Lahote." Arlina could hear the roll of Alice's eyes through the phone and she chuckled quietly before becoming serious once again.

"I'll start making my way then, I'll see you soon, Alice." Arlina smiled softly although Alice couldn't see it, but she couldn't help but miss the small girl so much it made her almost want to cry if she was able to.

"Okay, bye, sister!" Alice exclaimed enthusiastically as she pressed 'end call'. Arlina took the phone away from her ear and chucked it back into her bag, making sure it landing on some clothing so it didn't break. Alec had heard the entire conversation and he frowned, knowing she wasn't going to be able to sit in his arms for a long while.

"Are you really going to leave?" He asked, taking her hands in his and caressing his thumb gently over her fingers.

"I don't think I have much of a choice. Bella's in danger and Emmett needs scolding." She laughed lightly before bringing her hand up to his cheek with a soft smile, "I'll miss you, Alec."

"I'll miss you more." He responded, placing his own hand over hers, leaning into her touch. He'd miss her warmth, and her smile. He'd miss her laugh, and the way she gets so serious when reading her books that made him chuckle to himself. All he was waiting for was the moment when his lips would finally touch hers, and it was soon coming.

Arlina beamed at him, she didn't want to leave him. A week ago she despised the thought of him and herself being mates, but now she felt honoured to be his mate, blessed. Their faces were only mere inches apart, and Alec moved his hand from hers to rest it on her waist, closing his eyes when he was ready to purse his lips and place them on hers. Arlina closed her own golden eyes and her stomach was turning in spirals, she felt so ecstatic about this moment she was waiting for, for so long.

Just as their lips grazed, the door burst open and Demetri came rushing in, causing them to pull apart and turn their attention onto him. Felix came walking in after, he knew what was happening and felt bad about ruining it, "This can't be, you can't be leaving us already!" Demetri yelled, a huge frown on his face and Alec felt himself getting irritated at the amount of times the two had been eavesdropping.

"Tell me about it." Alec grumbled, and Demetri wrapped his arm around the witch twin's shoulder with a teasing smirk.

"Lighten up, wizard. Arlina will be back soon, won't you?" He raised an eyebrow towards the redhead who was making sure she had packed everything awkwardly, and she nodded up at them.

"Yes, soon if everything's alright at home. I don't think I'll have time to say goodbye to Aro and Marcus, could you say goodbye for me?" She asked the three and they all nodded, "And to Jane." The redhead smiled gently as she pulled the duffle-bag over her shoulder.

"I'll help you take your luggage down in just a minute, love." Alec watched as she grinned and left the room before he turned to his friends with a glare, it was mostly directed towards Demetri though, "I'm going to kill you both when I get back."

"I told him we shouldn't have listened in!" Felix defended himself and Demetri shot his best-friend a look.

"No, don't listen to him! He's a liar!" Demetri called out after Alec, who had already left the room to find his mate, "Why did you put the spotlight on me, chuckle head?!"

"It was true!"

"I'M SORRY ABOUT THEM, THEY'RE SUCH CHILDREN." Alec rolled his eyes as he closed the boot of Arlina's car. She laughed softly and placed her warm hand on his arm.

"Don't worry about it, I'm sure you're just as kiddish as them when you're just with them." She joked, Arlina could picture the three pulling pranks on Jane and her chasing after them in anger, it just seemed fitting for them all considering they're all stuck as teenagers, "I'm the same with Edward."

"I can't envisage you resembling childish behaviour, it's impossible." Alec claimed and Arlina only giggled at his stupidity, she couldn't believe he couldn't see how sometimes she'd act like a grown woman but most times she still acted as if she was 12 years-old — although she couldn't remember those years.

"Oh, don't worry, you'll see that side of me soon when I'm with Edward." She laughed before moving to the driver's side door, opening it and she turned to look at Alec once more, "I'll be back as soon as possible, I promise."

"I don't doubt you, Arlina." He smiled, Alec wanted nothing more than to hug her tightly and kiss her with such passion and affection — but before he could, she quickly kissed his cheek and got into the vehicle. No matter how much he was buzzing about how she had kissed him on his cheek, he was still bummed about her not kissing him on the other place he was longing for.

Arlina waved up at him through the window, and he waved back with a grin, hiding his sadness. As the youngest Cullen drove away, she couldn't help but feel regret. Why didn't she kiss him like she'd been wanting to for so long? Was it nerves that was stopping her or something else?

She pushed the thoughts past her, watching Alec stand still on the pavement through the side-view mirror, he was watching the car drive away with a sad smile and she knew that he wanted to place his lips on hers too.
