"WHEN ARO WANTS SOMEONE FROM A COVEN, it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime." Eleazar explained as he leaned up against a cabinet, his arms crossed over his chest.

"So, he's done this before?" Bella asked from beside Jacob, and Alec stayed quiet from where he was stood in the far corner beside his two brothers, watching his mate intently, who was sat on the floor with Bree.

"It happens so rarely. I never realised it was a pattern." Eleazar responded.

"Apparently, he always pardons one person whose thoughts he claims are repentant." Carlisle spoke up from the couch.

"This person always has an ability, and they're always given a place with the Guard." Eleazar's eyes drifted over to the three Guard members in the corner, along with everyone else's. Arlina looked around confused, before she realised they were all looking at her mate and newfound best-friends, so she shook her head with a scoff.

"This is all about Alice." Edward spoke up, easing the tension in the room and Arlina looked over at him with a look of appreciation, "He has no one like her."

"Which is why she left." Bella added with a furrow of her brows. Alec, Felix and Demetri all gave each other knowing looks, and Bree and Arlina caught on, sending them questioning expressions, clearly confused.

——

Alec, Felix, Demetri and Jane were all stood in the ceremony hall, watching the current events of a certain vampire being executed for a crime. Aro patted the man's head with a giggle before Felix and Demetri pulled his limbs from his body, including his head.

The man groaned loudly as his head was being ragged off of his body, and Jane smiled evilly, enjoying the pain that was being inflicted on the man. Alec could only grimace in his mind, flinching slightly when the sharp sound of the man's screams came to a halt.

"Dispose of the pieces." Caius told the two Guard members, and Aro chuckled loudly, catching the twins' attentions.

"Ah, do you know who would beneficial in this moment... my dear Alec?" Aro looked over at Alec, smiling wide and the boy shook his head.

"No, Master." Alec replied, ignoring Demetri and Felix throwing the body parts into a pile in the corner of the room where they burn the bodies of their victims.

"You should know." Aro raised an eyebrow, and when Alec showed no signs of realisation, the man continued, "La tua donna. (Your woman.)"

Alec glanced down at his hands, before he stopped, and placed his hands behind his back, trying to look as presentable as possible.

"Why would she be of usefulness, Master?" Alec questioned, his brows furrowing ever so slightly and Aro laughed loudly at his obliviousness, the other two Kings chuckling quietly too.

"Burning the bodies would be much more uncomplicated. She would make for an astounding warrior, maybe working alongside yourself and our dear Jane?" Aro questioned, taking a seat back in his assigned throne and Alec shook his head, looking down. He wanted nothing more than to be with Arlina every second of every day, but he would never even think about her being in Aro's slavery, he would never do that to her.

——

"Why does he need witnesses?" Emmett questioned, scrunching his face up in confusion.

"To spread the word that justice has been served. After he slaughters an entire coven." Alistair spoke, and everyone looked at each other in slight fear.

Amun walked forward, catching everyone's attention and Arlina rolled her eyes slightly, "Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving."

"And where will you go?" Edward asked, "What makes you think they'll he satisfied with Alice? What's to stop them from going after Benjamin next? Or Zafrina or Kate or anyone else with a gift? Anyone they want. Their goal isn't punishment, it's power. It's acquisition. Carlisle might not ask you to fight, but I will. For the sake of my family, but also for yours. And for the way you want to live."

Jacob stood from where he was sat beside Bella, looking around the room bravely, "The packs will fight. We've never been afraid of vampires."

Next Tanya, Kate and Carmen stood from the couch together, smiling at Edward, "We will fight."

"This won't be the first time I fought a King's rule." Garrett stood forward, and grinned over at Kate, causing the woman to blush inwardly.

"We'll join you." Benjamin nodded to Edward, before he smiled at Arlina, the two growing closer by every second.

"No." Amun snapped his head over at his brother, demanding him not to.

"I will do the right thing, Amun. You may do as you please." Benjamin told him, Tia clung to the man's side tightly with a small smile.

"We will stand with you." Senna told them from beside Zafrina, who nodded to confirm.

"So will we." Maggie — from the Irish coven — stood up with Siobhan and Liam, nodding to the Cullens.

Now everyone was stood up, but their attention was on the three ex-Guard members, who stood in the corner, giving each other looks, almost as if they were reading each other's minds. Arlina caught eyesight with Alec, and she smiled at him, reassuring him that he doesn't have to fight them but he shook his head, looking down at his shoes.

"We will fight too, but I won't stand against Jane." Alec told everyone, and they all agreed. He smiled over at Arlina, and she beamed back, feeling glad that he chose to protect her family.

"That didn't take much." Vladimir told Stefan, and some glared over at him.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." Edward spoke, and everyone began to leave the room, but Alistair moved up beside Carlisle, looking the man up and down.

"We'll see." The stand-offish vampire spoke, and he walked away and out of the room, people giving him looks on the way out.
