Killian ran his hands over his face. "Bloody hell." He took a deep breath before he ran after her.

"Swan!" he yelled out when he spied her familiar blonde hair. She didn't slow down.

He groaned before he chased her. They dodged sidewalk cracks, mailboxes, and bicycles. Their friends and neighbors jumped out of the way.

She finally stopped when she reached the docks.

She gripped the wooden railing until her knuckles turned white. Her breaths came out short and ragged.

Killian collapsed on the railing beside her. "Swan, what in the bloody hell were you trying to do?"

"Get away from that bar - and you - as fast as I could."

"But why?"

"Because...because..."

She ran further down the dock - until he caught her arm.

"Why do you keep running away from me?"

"Because I can't do this. I can't...can't..."

"Can't what? Take a chance on us?"

"No!"

"And why the bloody hell not?"

"Because I just can't."

"Well, that's just maddeningly unhelpful."

"What the hell do you want me to do, Killian?"

"I want you to admit that something is between us."

"Is that all?"

"Swan! Why are you so bloody stubborn?"

She only glared at him. She then threw her hands in the air.

"Fine! I'm so fantastically over-the-top want to slit my own throat in love with you that for every hour of every day I can't believe I haven't had the damn guts to tell you."

Killian's eyes widened. "Pardon? You're what?"

She only stared at him. She then took a deep breath and turned away.

"Just...go. I know it's...a lot."

She closed her eyes and waited for the retreating footsteps. They popped open when he spun her around.

"Swan - Emma - if you're truly so oblivious, then I have made a bloody mess of everything."

"Wait, what?"

"Darling, did you just miss our fight? And our dance? And every moment I've hopelessly flirted with you?"

"But - but - that's because you're you, isn't it?"

"Come now, love, you know me better than that."

She only stared at him - their every interaction playing in her mind.

The way he loved to play with her hair - and make her laugh. The way she swore he made her blush on purpose. The way his face lit up whenever she was around. The way he did flirt with her - and the rare moments he became nervous in her presence. And the way he was always there for her.

How could she be so blind?

Her mouth fell agape as she continued to stare at him. A small smile crossed her features as he reached up to scratch behind his ear.

She then took a deep breath - long and slow. Her gaze found his.

"So, you have...feelings for me?"

He caressed her cheek. "Don't you know, Emma? Since the moment we met, it's been you."

She blushed and ran her hands up and down her arms, her gaze trailing toward the ground. When she looked back up, her gaze locked back with his. He rested his forehead against hers.

He cleared his throat. "So, love, does this mean..."

The question hung in the air. She then pulled away from him - a smile lit up her features.

"It means...that I want you. I want us, Killian."

He returned her smile. "And that is music to my ears. You're a bloody marvel, Swan."

She giggled. "You're not so bad yourself." He only shook his head as she continued to laugh.

She then took another deep breath and took his face in her hands.

"We're really gonna make this work, aren't we?"

"Without a doubt."

She smiled once more. Her gaze then moved to his lips before she grabbed his shirt collar and pulled his mouth to hers.

He smiled into the kiss before he tilted his head to deepen it. He threaded his fingers through her hair.

She pulled him closer as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He pressed his hands against her back.

The passion melted into tenderness as they sank into each other and the kiss. A kiss that held the promise of a future. They pulled away when they could no longer breathe.

Killian rested his forehead back against hers. "That was..."

"The start of something amazing."

He smiled. They held each other a few moments longer until he reluctantly pulled away.

"Much as I would love to stay here all day, I'm afraid Robin will start looking for us soon."

"Oh, gods, you're right. I almost forgot about work."

"Almost?" he teased with a grin. She nudged his shoulder with hers.

"Come on, Killian, we have drinks to serve."

He entwined their fingers. "So, we do. Just one more thing."

She raised an eyebrow before he brought her free hand up to his mouth. He pressed a soft kiss against it.

"From now on, Swan, the drinks are on me."

She shook her head - but a giggle escaped. She then pressed a kiss against his cheek.

She then bit her lip as a blush rose to her cheeks. "The drinks might as well be yours - my heart already is."

He smiled before he cupped her face in his hands and kissed her. She smiled into it as she happily returned it.

As they pulled away, they thought about how they'd spend the rest of their lives sharing those glasses of rum - and every beat of their hearts.

A/N: Well, friends, I hope you enjoyed this latest fic about our favorite couple as much as I enjoyed writing it – and writing a flustered Emma. Because let's face it – she was never quite as subtle as she thought she was :)

And just one more thing: I do have to give credit for Emma's big admission – it was very much inspired by one of my other favorite shows, Friends. May our Chandler – Matthew Perry – rest in peace. Until next time, my lovelies! :)
