Emma and Killian walked into the bar. The bartender, Ruby, waved them in as they shrugged out of their jackets.
Killian took her red leather jacket and offered, "Here, love, I'll get Ruby to stash these behind the counter while you grab our seats at the bar.
"Take this, too. Let me just grab my wallet."
When she reached for the zipper, he covered her hand with his.
"Uh, uh, love. I told you that the drinks are on me."
She crossed her arms. "You said you had the first round."
He smiled at her. "I just want to treat my best friend."
She cocked an eyebrow. "You already used that when you bought the donuts."
With a grin, he pushed her hair behind her ear. "Then I'm confident that it'll work just as well this time."
She smiled and shook her head. She playfully punched his arm.
"Just go. I'll grab our seats."
Killian shot her a wink before he made his way over to Ruby. Emma shook her head once more and rolled her eyes before she wound her way through the tables and past the dance floor.
When she sat down, her attention drifted to the drunken crooning of a couple of karaokers.
She laughed before she heard a voice behind her, "Believe it or not, those two sing worse when they're sober."
Emma craned her head and cocked an eyebrow. "I'm not sure making fun of your customers is good for repeat business, Dorothy."
The brunette waved her hand. "Those two would be the first to admit they can't sing. But that doesn't stop them from belting out the best of the 80s."
Emma couldn't help but laugh as Dorothy crossed her arms over her chest. She nodded toward the stage.
"You and Killian should get back up there. You guys killed it."
A slight blush rose to her cheeks. She ran her fingers through her blonde hair.
With a shrug, she offered, "That was a one-time thing - I'm not much of a singer."
"Could've fooled me." She then tilted her head and leaned against the bar.
"Although, you two weren't aware that anyone else was in the room when you two were up there."
Emma ducked her head as her blush deepened. Dorothy only grinned before she grabbed a couple of glasses and placed them on the bar top.
"I'll be right back - gotta go grab the Captain Morgan."
She turned on her heel and walked toward the shelf full of bottles. Emma took a deep breath and ran her fingers through her hair.
She couldn't help but smile as the stool next to her rocked. "Took you long enough. Dorothy's grabbing our drinks."
"You know, I've been wanting a drink with you for some time, Emma."
She furrowed her eyebrows. Her jaw then clenched as she balled her hands into fists.
She turned and crossed her arms. "Walsh. What the hell are you doing here?"
He folded his hands in front of him. "I already told you - I want to share a drink."
"And I've told you - multiple times - that I'm not interested."
"So, your flirting in my furniture store was what then? A cruel joke?"
