niamh pov.

i can't believe that dad actually stayed over last night. after my dance class yesterday, bella and i stayed at our apartment to have a sleep over and mini spa night. dad and mum had been out together, i’m not sure why or how because dad had some work in brighton which is why he'd not stayed over after rhe dance, but somehow i could convince him last night.

to my surprise, dad told me that mum had agreed to come to geneva, though she'll come later. it was pretty vague but i would get to spend all day with dad to myself until she'd join us…i hope.

mum was a little worried about dress shopping, and knowing dad something was definitely up but i wasn't in on their secrets anymore which made me feel left out but auntie mels told me to just let mum be for a while.

afterall, they definitely really really liked eachother and seeing mum smile more made me feel much, much better.

the morning kicked off way too early, but i didn’t care. dad and i packed up quick, trying to slip out of the apartment without waking mum, who had fallen asleep early after packing some of her stuff for the holidays.

she'd dropped off bella earlier in the morning since bella’s family too was going out to norway for christmas this afternoon to meet up with her dad’s family.

even with all the noise we accidentally made, i knew mum was dead tired from this week and probably wouldn't wake up. she'd already made us breakfast and dozed off again after dad told her that - and i quote - ‘i’ll keep tinkerbell with me. we’ll see you tomorrow maevey’

maemae, maevey…dad's a nickname stealer.

we were in for an adventure today, for sure.

mum gave me a sleepy hug last night and reminded me to take care of dad, which made me feel like a little sidekick on a secret mission. it's quite silly because usually it'd be dad telling me that and mum telling dad to take care of me.

once we were in the car, i could barely sit still. i knew we were going to mtc today, and this would be my first time seeing it all up close.

i’d always been more grace than speed, but the roar of engines, the shine of those sleek cars, and seeing dad in his world was the most exciting feeling. leo found it quite surprising when i told him i’d never actually been to any of the racing or f1 events before but that's the truth.

just because lando norris is my dad, it doesn't mean i always got to go everywhere. people just assume i did. it was just as exciting for me as any other racing fanatics.

"ready to see where the magic happens, sweetheart?" dad looked over at me with a smile, squeezing my shoulder. he looked happier than usual, like bringing me along really meant something to him.

"only if i get to drive," i joked, but deep down, i really wanted to. i knew he was way too strict about safety to ever actually let me drive, but maybe...one day?

he handed me his id to scan, since his car was a left driving one but the gates had the scanner on the right, quite silly if you ask me because the car was a mclaren manufactured at this very place.

when we pulled up, mtc looked like something straight out of a movie. towering buildings with glassy walls, giant logos that made everything seem important. the lake was still and the bean shaped tower looked much bigger than i’d imagined.
