"Mutants

"Mutants. Since the discovery of their existence, they have been regarded with fear, suspicion, often hatred. Across the planet, debate rages. Are mutants the next link in the evolutionary chain...or simply a new species of humanity fighting for their share of the world? Either way, it is a historical fact: sharing the world has never been humanity's defining attribute."

Tired of keeping the kids from touching the exhibits at the local natural history museum, Storm looked around, trying to find another adult to talk to. Spotting Eden alone, standing in front of one of the decorative plants she furrowed her brows.

Walking over she placed her hand on Eden's shoulder, apologizing when Eden jumped. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Eden sighed, breaking her concentration as she turned to Storm. "I wanted to see if I could sense him. My range has extended but not far enough."

"I'm sure Logan is fine," Storm said.

"This is just great. The first guy I meet who I can kiss without consequence and he's probably lying dead somewhere in the Alps" Eden sighed.

Storm couldn't help but laugh at how dramatic Eden was being. "You know the Professor would've felt if something bad happened to him. Besides, it's only been a few weeks."

"It's been a month and a half. He hasn't called or texted" Eden said.

"I don't think there's cell service in the Alps" Storm pointed out.

"Cell phones weren't widely available until 1983 yet we found many ways to communicate before then," Eden said.

"Well, I doubt they also have a post office" Storm laughed.

"Well...I don't know! Smoke signals or something! I mean is it so wrong to want to know that he's okay?" Eden sighed.

"No, of course not. Why not just ask the Professor to use Cerebro and check on him?" Storm asked.

"I can't. He said if I asked him one more time he'd use his powers to make me forget he even existed" Eden huffed.

Storm laughed. "How often were you asking him?"

"Everyday" Eden mumbled under her breath before dropping her head in her hands. "God, I am so pathetic."

"You're not pathetic" Storm smiled.

"Yes. I am. I mean we kissed for godsakes, we're not getting married. Now I'm acting like one of the kids" Eden said.

"You're not. You know it's okay that you have feelings for him" Storm said.

"God, you're starting to sound like Jean" Eden mumbled.

"Who sounds like me?" Jean asked as she and Scott walked over. Before anyone could answer they turned to see everyone around them suddenly freeze up.
