Adie's POV
It was my first time waking up in my condo in Quezon City. It had been two years since I bought it and started paying the down payment. It was still preselling at that time, so I got it for a much lower price than its value now. Finally, I had moved in and could have my peace. My last apartment was nice, but it wasn't soundproof, and I could hear my neighbors playing loud music. The walls were just too thin. Hay.
As I scanned my new room, I saw the time. "Sh*t! Late na 'ko sa meeting ko!"
I immediately went to the other room, which was my home office. I switched on my laptop, and my 49-inch wide monitor lit up immediately. I smiled widely, feeling satisfied with my desk setup. It had been a dream, but now that I was a regional manager, I could easily afford it. I could say that I was successful in my chosen field, IT. From being a developer, I managed to get promoted every cycle because of my intelligence and dedication to helping my family.
I graduated early; I was the youngest Regional Manager in our department. At 24, I already had a car—not too fancy, just a white Civic—and now, this three-bedroom condo. Part of the company perks were car and home loan assistance with 0% interest.
[phone ringing]
I answered the phone annoyed,
Adie: nasa meeting ako Clay!
Clay: ay good morning to you too! As if namang nakikinig ka dyan.
I chuckled because my friend was stating a fact. I hadn't been listening at all. I didn't even bother to turn my camera on.
Adie: oh bakit nga? Pwede namang magchat.
Clay: mag-audition ka na kasi!!!
My best friend had been asking me to audition for their group, MASQUE. Clay knew that I had always wanted to enter show business but had been too busy earning "sure" money. I thought that working in a corporate company provided a stable income to pay my bills and help my family. Well, it did. Entering show business seemed too risky for me since, without steady projects or enough fame, I wouldn't have had enough money.
Adie: pinag-iisipan ko pa...
I was really in the middle of deciding. I still had one week before the audition
Clay: dali na! Ayaw mo bang makilala mga poganda kong kasama? May isa dun sobrang poganda talaga pero masungit. Hahaha
I rolled my eyes. My friend knew I was curious and really wanted to see the faces behind the masks of Clay's group. Their group was named MASQUE for a reason—they remained mysterious to the public. The upside was that they could go out anytime without fans going crazy over their presence.
Adie: sino? Si K?
I asked curiously. She had red hair, and her aura was really strong—ang angas.
Clay: yieeeee. Crush mo? Poganda nga yun kaso potek napakasungit eh. Malay mo, ikaw na makapagpalambot ng puso niya.
Adie: bading din siya?
