"Ako kasi, yes. Mahal na mahal kita."

Adie's POV

The girls squealed because of Kayla's revelation, and they were all waiting for me to say something.

"Bat—pano—I mean, hindi pa pwede, di ba?" I asked.

"Baka kasi anong mangyari sa 'kin kaya sinasabi ko na," Kayla smiled, but her eyes were sad.

The rest of the girls looked worried because of what we heard. Parang nagpapaalam.

"Baby naman. Wag ka namang magsalita ng ganyan oh," I said as I held her hand.

"Mahal mo nga ako?" the redhead asked.

I hesitated at first, but I didn't want to waste any more time not telling her I love her every second I could.

"Oo. Mahal na mahal."

"Good."

"Kayla!!!" the girls shouted while I was stunned, not knowing what to do.

Her body started shaking. Her eyes turned upward while her eyelids fluttered.

I saw Clay run outside with fear in her eyes.

"Baby!" I finally shouted.

The medical staff rushed inside the room and asked us to leave, but I stayed by the door. I didn't know what they did, but she finally calmed down.

The doctor approached us and said, "This is not normal for Dengue. We need to do further tests."

I just nodded, but Joey was the one to talk calmly to the doctor. They took Kayla somewhere, and I was not able to follow because I was feeling lost. I felt like she just waited for me to tell her I love her.

"Nagising lang ba siya para marinig akong sabihing mahal ko siya? Masasabi ko pa naman ulit sa kanya yun, diba?" I asked the girls. We're in the room waiting for Kayla, and they were all looking at me with pity in their eyes.

Time Skip

It's been 3 months, and Kayla hasn't woken up yet. I wanted to be there when she woke up, but I was also doing my best for the training because I knew she wanted me to fulfill my dreams. Her family flew from the US to be with her here in the Philippines. She was cured of Dengue, but she also had Meningitis, and her brain was affected. The doctor said there was still activity in her brain, and that gave me hope.

I was in her room still waiting for her to wake up. Tinototoo niya ata yung sinabi niyang matutulog siya nang matutulog hanggang sa mag-1 year na para maging kami na agad. Gigising naman siya diba, Lord?

"Baby, skincare ka muna," I told her as I prepared the products I would use. Her dad has already gone home since I was the one always sleeping in the hospital to accompany her.

"Ganda-ganda mo pa rin, baby. Gising ka na dyan para mas maturuan mo pa ako magrap."

I always talk to her as if she could hear me. I really wished she could.

"Oh ayan. Teka lip balm pa kasi ayaw mo ng dry ang lips," I said. Not sure if guni-guni ko lang pero parang gumalaw yung eyelid niya. Did she flinch?

"Baby, kung anu-ano na nakikita ko. Siguro kasi gusto na talaga kitang magising."

As I was putting socks on her cold feet, I felt her move again, so I walked closer to her head and touched her face.
