I believed her. I felt her sincerity when she explained, and I knew there was a reason behind that. I just needed her to be ready to tell me.
Adie's POV
"Sa 'yo 'to? Itong condo?" Kayla asked me. We were just resting now in the living room, playing a random movie on Netflix.
"Oo, kakamove in ko nga lang nung isang araw," I chuckled.
"So what are you gonna do with it pag tanggap ka na?"
"I honestly don't know yet. Ayaw ko ipa-rent kasi kakaayos ko lang ng lahat ng ito," I explained. I haven't really thought about it. Once I pass and become a trainee, I will be required to live with them.
"We can sleep here every weekend," she suggested. We were sitting comfortably on my sofa almost facing each other.
"Kasama ka talaga?" I said, laughing. She pouted because of my reply. Ang cute na nga, sobrang poganda pa. "Joke lang! Eto naman."
"Pag si Joey syempre payag ka agad," she was still sulking, and it made me laugh even more.
"Hala siya uy! Nagseselos ka ba? Gusto mo ikaw lang tinitilian ng mga babae?" I teased her. "Ewan ko ba. Parang ang bright lang ng aura niya. As if naman may pag-asa ako dun!" I continued, but she pouted even more.
"Bakit naman wala? Have you seen yourself in the mirror? You're beautiful, Adie," she had a serious face when she said this. And there's that unfamiliar feeling again.
"Thanks. Ikaw pa rin ang pinaka pogi," I said to hide my sudden nervousness.
Kayla yawned, which made me yawn too. She looked at me after, which made us both laugh. "Ate Maya kasi eh. Good thing na rin she's not my roommate," she said, making us both laugh again.
"Gusto mo nap muna tayo?" I asked.
"Okay," she said, sounding jolly.
I led her to my bedroom. I didn't know why I suddenly felt nervous. It's not like it's our first time cuddling. She went to the right side of the bed, then sat on it first. "Higa ka na," I told her, baka kasi nahihiya. She looked hesitant, so I raised the duvet inviting her in. I lay down first, and then she followed.
"Is it weird that I'm nervous?" she asked me. Akala ko ako lang.
"Wala akong gagawing masama sa 'yo!" I told her, then rolled my eyes.
"Mas okay nga kung meron," she said, making me slap her arm.
"Ouch! Mapanakit ka! Sige, basta wag heart ko sasaktan mo." Humirit pa talaga siya.
I just laughed, then felt her starting to move closer to me. Her body was facing me, and then I was startled when she placed her hand on my stomach, then successfully to the left side of my waist. I was wearing a crop top, so her touch made me shiver.
"Are you cold?" she asked. "No, sleep ka na," I answered.
I was just chatting with Clay, telling her that I would be late. I also asked her to tell Joey that I was really sorry. Ewan ko ba. I suddenly had this feeling of wanting to be there for Kayla. I wanted to protect her from whatever she was afraid of or from anything that would hurt her.
Kayla was already asleep, her light snores confirmed that, when suddenly Clay was video calling me. I put my AirPods on so I wouldn't wake Kayla. I answered the call but didn't turn my camera on.
