Iris's POV

A couple days passed and I walked into the meeting at 51 with my newest bestie, Alexandra Kay. "Hey, 51," I smiled.

"You're early," Boden stated.

"Sorry," I stated.

"Well, since you've got the attention of everyone here, you're more than welcome to share to the class," Boden nodded. "The floor is yours, Mrs. Cabot."

"Thank you, Boden. Uhm, this is a little sad since 51 has been my home for forever," I replied. "Let's just rip the band-aid off. Today is my last shift at 51."

"What?" Violet asked. "You can't be serious. If this is about being PIC, you can have it. I love working with you."

"This isn't about being PIC," I stated. "I am actually going on tour with Alexandra."

"Iris has signed a contract with me and our tour is going to be synced together. I just hope you guys keep supporting her just as you always have been," Alexandra stated. "I do want to invite you all to her debut show, tomorrow night at The Chicago Theatre." I nodded. "We'll leave your name with the guard out front."

"Why not Molly's?" Herrmann asked.

"Unfortunately, Molly's isn't a big enough venue for our show," Alexandra stated. "I did consider it, but with the last couple of shows I've done, we were going to need a bigger venue." The alarms went off. "Go save the world."

"I'll see you at the house," I nodded. I got into the ambo with Violet driving. "Hey, you're really quiet."

"My best friend is leaving me and I have to find a new partner," Violet stated. "Do you know who I'm limited to in the floater pool?"

"You'll find someone," I smiled. "Plus, you can always call me to vent."

"What if I need help?" Violet asked.

"I'll try to help when I can," I nodded. It was the day of the show. I was pacing back and forth in my dressing room. There was a knock on the door. "Come in." Jay opened the door. "Hey." I looked at him. "Did you find him?"

"Seems like he's still at the office," Jay sighed. "I'm sorry, but he's going to miss the opening."

"Okay," I sighed. Jay handed me my microphone. "Thanks." He walked me to the wing of the stage. "Hope he gets here before the end."

"He will," Jay nodded. He looked at the clock. "You're on."

"It was fun until it wasn't," I sang as I joined Alexandra on the stage. "Blink and you're 20-something. Laying next to someone you don't recognize. And the bills are piling up and he hasn't kissed you in a month." Alexandra gave me a hug. "But every now and then it's love. And that's what tears me up."

"'Cause I was happy once. Wish that picture just stop doing what it always does. Wish that song wouldn't come on, when my heart's already halfway gone," Alexandra joined me. "Halfway down this leaving road I'm on. Yeah, we were happy once. Who we were ain't who we are." I waved to some of the kids we had down in the front row. "We had a real good run, but that don't mean I need to be staying up all night making myself think twice, just 'cause I was happy."

"It's clear to me it's over, but that girl at 21," Alexandra sang, "she's always gonna love you 'cause you made her happy once."

"Happy once," I repeated.

"'Cause I was happy once. Wish that picture just stop doing what it always does. Wish that song wouldn't come on, when my heart's already halfway gone," Alexandra joined me. "Halfway down this leaving road I'm on. Yeah, we were happy once. Who we were ain't who we are." Alexandra and I held hands. "We had a real good run, but that don't mean I need to be staying up all night making myself think twice, just 'cause I was happy once."
