Tim's POV

Lucy was riding with me and it was oddly awkward. "Are you going to say something, Chen?" I asked.

"Why did Sergeant Grey ask me how Iris would do in undercover work?" Lucy asked.

"Iris wants to do undercever work?" I asked.

"Apparently," Lucy replied. "But I told Grey it's too risky."

"On what grounds?" I asked.

"She's gotten her face in the press," Lucy replied. "she would be made instantly."

"You and Juicy have the same face. Yeah, you have different personalities, but you guys look exactly alike," I stated. "You can't deny that. Also, me and Dim. He might not look as handsome as I do, but I guess we look similar."

"The intel and paperwork that would need to be done to make her a nobody," Lucy looked at me. I sighed. "How about I make you a deal?"

"I'm listening," I stated.

"7-Adam-100, do you copy?" dispatch stated.

"Go for 7-Adam-100," I stated into the radio.

"2-11 in progress at Sunset Kids at Sunset Plaza," dispatch stated.

"10-4, show us responding," I replied. "Alert back up units and airship."

"All units, be advised, 2-11 in progress at Sunset Kids at Sunset Plaza," dispatch stated. "They do have a female hostage, pregnant and plain-clothed officer on scene."

"You don't think that's —"

"I hope not," I cut Lucy off as I turned on the lights. We got to the location and assessed the scene. "Two robbers. I see one armed, so we're going to assume the second suspect is armed as well."

"I don't see a hostage other than the cashier," Lucy nodded.

"Nope, that's Iris," I stated. I grabbed my radio. "Dispatch, advise other units the hostage is Officer Webb in plain-clothes who is 10-7. Suspects are armed."

"Copy that, 7-Adam-100," dispatch replied.

"Ready, Chen?" I asked.

"Yeah," Lucy replied.

"LAPD!" I exclaimed as we popped up. They started shooting at Lucy and I. We took cover and I got out my radio. "Shots fired! Send back-up and airship now!" The shots died down. "You okay, Chen?"

"Yeah," Lucy nodded.

"Tim!" Iris's scream faded.

"We need to get to her," I stated. "I'll cover, you move and vice versa." Lucy nodded in agreement. We did that about 7 times before we got to the register. "It's empty."

"I've got blood," Lucy pointed.

"They went down the hallway," I pointed. "Listen."

"Tim!" we heard Iris's faintly yell.

"Let's go," I nodded. We took the hallway. We got to a downstairs room. Iris was tied to a chair with a rope tied around her mouth. "Clear."

"Clear," Lucy nodded.

"Going hands on," I stated. I holstered my gun and knelt down in front of Iris. I got the rope out from around her mouth. I untied her hands. She gave me a big, hard hug. "Hey, you're okay. You're going to be alright." She cried into my shoulder. "You're going to be okay. That's a promise." I rubbed her back. "Let's get you out of here, okay?" She nodded. I helped her out and put her in the back of the shop. The rest of the unit showed up on scene. Wade walked up to me as I closed the door. He motioned me to follow him. We stopped a few feet away from everyone. "Yes, sir?"

"Is she okay?" Wade asked.

"She's tough. She's going to be alright," I replied. He looked at me. "What?"

"Is there something between you and Webb that I should know about?" Wade asked.

"No," I quickly replied.

"I know when you're lying, Bradford," Wade stated. "I also think you know exactly where I'm headed with this."

"I actually don't, sir," I replied.

"You're wearing a wedding band," Wade stated. "Iris is also wearing a wedding band."

"Iris and I got married while I was in a hospital bed," I sighed.

"And the baby?" Wade asked.

"Uhm, mine," I nodded.

"Okay," Wade sighed. It was quiet. "How long have you guys been together?"

"2 years," I replied.

"Look, I'll allow it for now," Wade crossed his arms. "You guys managed to keep it professional for this long. Now, if I notice anything unprofessional in the field, I'm pulling it."

"Yes, sir," I nodded. "Lucy and I are gonna take Iris to get checked up."

"Yeah, just let me know how it goes," Wade stated.

"Of course," I stated. I got into the shop. I looked at Iris in the rearview minor as Lucy got into the shop. "Iris, were taking you to the hospital to get checked out." Iris was quiet the whole time. I did most of the talking. Lucy stayed in the waiting room. "Iris, I really need you to talk to me."

"Time," Iris whispered.

"Okay," I sighed. We took Iris home after picking up Oakley from the daycare. After shift, I went home and found Iris passed out in our bedroom. The baby monitor was on the nightstand. I checked on Oakley, in his room, and he was sleeping. I walked back to the room and pulled the comforter over Iris. "I was hoping we would get a chance to talk."

"Tim?" Iris asked.

"Yeah?" I asked as I sat next to her. She grabbed my hands. "Baby, I'm here."

"How was shift?" Iris asked. Her phone alarm started going off. She grabbed her phone and looked at it. "The back door is open." She looked at me. "There's someone in the house."

"Go to Oakley's room," I nodded.

"Yeah," Iris sighed. She got her gun from her fingerprint safe. "Okay."

"Go," I nodded. I watched Iris disappear into Oakley's room. I got out my gun and slowly made my way down the stairs. I cleared the whole first floor and closed the back door. "Clear!"

"Motion in the pantry," Iris stated as she walked into the kitchen. "Ready?" I nodded. "3, 2, 1." She opened the door and I pointed my gun. I sighed as l lowered my weapon. "What?" Iris looked. "A raccoon in the trap."

"At least you know the security system works," I replied.

"Yeah," Iris nodded. "Uhm, get rid of it, please?"

"I will," I replied. I got the raccoon out and went upstairs. Iris was already back in bed, sleeping. I chuckled to myself. I took a shower and went to bed. I woke up early the next morning. I was making a coffee and making sure I had my bag ready. Iris walked in and sat on one of the bar stools at the island. "Hey, I didn't mean to wake you."

"Where are you going so early?" Iris asked.

"Uhm, because I got moved to Metro," I stated.

"What?" Iris asked, fully awake now. "When were you going to tell me?"

"Last night, but you went back to sleep after our incident with the raccoon," I replied. She looked at me and sighed. "Babe, this is the best way to make sure our schedules line up. I can't be in your chain of command." Iris rolled her eyes. "Babe, I can't. It won't work out for us if we're together in patrol."

"Wade said it was fine," Iris replied.

"For him, but not for me. I know I will be distracted and I don't want either of us to be danger," I sighed. "This is the best way for the two of us. I know it is, and I know deep down that you do too."
