Tim's POV
Two months passed by. Iris walked into Wade's office. "Iris," I stated.
"Oh, perfect," Iris smiled. "Two birds, one stone."
"How can we help you?" Wade asked.
"Here are the signed divorce documents," Iris handed me the envelope. "And this is for my transfer to CPD."
"CPD?" I asked. "You're actually moving to Chicago?"
"Yeah," Iris nodded. "I talked to Voight when I went on my vacation about two weeks ago."
"You talked to Voight? The Voight that runs Intelligence that Halstead is on? That Voight?" I asked. Iris raised a brow. "Of course it's that guy. Why am I not surprised?"
"I'm not joining Intelligence because of Jay," Iris replied. "I'm joining Intelligence because it's the most elite unit in the CPD, and it beats going through patrol again."
"Or you could've been a paramedic again," I stated.
"I had my fair share being between paramedic and cop," Iris looked at me. "I'm going to stick with this detective gig for a while. Especially when I don't have to interview for the job I'm taking." Christmas Eve came and I had gotten done helping the movers get her items into the moving truck. I walked inside as Iris was setting the table. "Who's joining us?"
"John, Bailey and Lucy," I replied.
"Why?"
"Because after tomorrow, I'm gone, Tim," I stated. "This is my last time I have to spend it with everyone."
"Who's taking you to the airport?"
"Uhm, Lucy is."
"You really couldn't wait to leave, could you?"
"Excuse me?"
"I just hate that I'm losing you like this."
"You did this and you filed for divorce. I can't say that I was happy about it."
"And you gave it to me on the day of our anniversary."
"It's done, Tim," Iris stated.
"Because of my stupidity?"
"Your words, not mine," Iris stated. The doorbell rang. I let Lucy, Bailey and John in. I got the kids seated in their high chair and Iris fed them first. "How was shift before the holiday?"
"Crazy, but I wish you could've been on patrol with us," Lucy stated as we were all eating.
"She's a detective," I stated.
"Okay, are you guys sure you can't work it out?" Bailey asked.
"You're hoping I say yes so you can poach me to be working with you," Iris smiled. "Unfortunately, our divorce was finalized. We're no longer married and there's no working it out."
"Are you sure?" Bailey asked.
"When he has a provider mindset, he doesn't go clubbing, he gives you the princess treatment, doesn't give you a reason to be jealous, who loves you without condition, supports you in everything you do," Iris stated, "makes you his priority, always asks for your opinion in all situations but most especially he respects you. That's Tim, but he doesn't feel that same way anymore and it hurt when he told me that."
"I can't support you the way you want me to," I stated. "I have to let you go."
Jay's POV
I saw Iris walking over to me with her kids. "Hey, Iris," I smiled.
"Hey," Iris smiled as she gave me a hug. "I am so glad I had my own little private jet."
"Travelling with two kids," I nodded. "I do respect you travelling this far with them."
"Never again," Iris replied. "How has Tamara setteled in?"
"Uhm, well, just wait till you see the place," I stated. I drove her to her new home. We walked inside, with me carrying the kids. "Here we are."
"Welcome home," Tamara walked down the stairs.
"I love how you decorated," Iris smiled.
"I think it's a little much," I stated.
"Ignore him," Iris replied.
"I will," Tamara nodded. "I will take the kids and you two can head to work."
"Оh, okay," I stated as Tamara took the kids from me. "Let's go, Iris."
"On your 6," Iris replied. We got in my car and I drove us to the district. "So, are you going to annoy me as much as you did Hailey?"
"What are you talking about?" I asked. We walked up the stairs. "I'm not going to annoy you."
"Welcome to Intelligence," Voight handed Iris a badge and gun. "You ready to dive in?"
"Don't take it easy on me," Iris smiled. "Let's do it."
"Halstead, she's with you," Voight stated.
"What?" I asked.
"She's taking Upton's spot," Voight nodded. "Good luck, Bradford."
"I won't need it, Sarge," Iris smiled. "I've dealt with his ass before." We got into my truck, to patrol. "Okay, why are we patrolling? I wanna get to the more action packed part."
"Which part?" I asked. "The bullets, the investigation, the stake out?"
"All of that, minus patrolling," Iris nodded.
"Iris, are you for sure divorced?" I asked.
"Yeah, the divorce between Tim and I is finalized," Iris replied. "Uhm, can we stop by INS?"
"You really wanna go see your ex-husband?" I asked.
"Yeah, it's something I need to do and I owe him this since I'm going to be back permanently," Iris replied. We went to INS and I followed her. We walked in Sebastian's office. "Hey, Seb?"
"Iris," Sebastian stood up. "We didn't have a meeting, do we?"
"Uhm, no, but I am here because I wanted to let you know that I am back in Chicago for good," Iris stated. "I got a job with CPD, and I want to work out a schedule with you for you to have a relationship with your son."
"Are you serious?" Sebastian asked.
"Yeah," Iris nodded. "I think you deserve a relationship with Oakley. I have full custody, but I think we can get that overturned."
"How does your husband feel?" Sebastian asked.
"Would you believe me if I told you I was divorced?" Iris asked. Sebastian was shocked. "Just think on it okay?"
"I would if I were you," I stated, as Sebastian looked at me. "She's giving you an offer to have a relationship with your son."
