exposed- stucky

(all avengers are alive and stuff, its after endgame etc, late 2025 but everyone is alive and Wanda is good and also probably a bit younger then she would be, only 20ish, and Peter is still fine and remembered. Peter's parents were killed when he was little, then may and ben were killed by the bots at the stark expo, tony adopted peter but its kind of a secret, Tony also has Morgan and had adopted Harley. also this is probably important, Nat and Bucky were not together at Hydra, but were friends. oh and CW did still happen, and that was Peter's first time meeting any Avengers aside from Tony, Nat, Pepper and Rhodey.)

it was an exciting day at the tower, as they had a lot of visitors; Clint, Scott and the guardians were visiting, so were Thor, Strange and Loki, and T'Challa and Shuri. The first two had bonded with each other and Tony over their kids, and were now quite good friends, their kids were too, to a slightly less positive outcome- as those children were practically evil geniuses when it came to pranks.

The "kids" were all in the next room, though the door was open, watching a Disney movie, Encanto, to be specific (and trying to pair each character to an Avenger), the Bartons (Cooper, Lila and Nate) were sitting on one couch, the Maximoffs (Wanda and Pietro) on the other, with little Morgan sitting between them. Nebula was lying sideways on an armchair, her legs draped over the armrest, Harley was also on an armchair, a backwards-facing armchair that he was leaning on while watching. Loki was just in the corner, leaning against the wall, near the open door. Cassie, Mantis and Shuri were seated on beanbags, Groot was lying on the floor, like a toddler with a colouring book, and Peter sitting cross-legged on the ceiling, instead of one of the many couches or armchairs. Why he chose to watch the movie upside down, who knows? Sure, most of the gang were teens, some were legally adults, only a few of them were actually kids, but to the other Avengers, they were all the kids, and they didn't mind that at all. All of them appreciated a good Disney movie.

The so-called 'adults' (Sam, Scott, Clint, Tony, Quill, etc) were joking around and having a laugh with the responsible Avengers (Steve, Nat, Hope, Gamora, Pepper, T'Challa, Strange, etc). Tony eventually started poking fun at everyone's favourite super soldiers.

 During the blip, Steve had led a little therapy group, this was how he had found out that being gay was now generally accepted, when he learned this, he was thrilled, more so then you might expect, even from someone who represents freedom and acceptance, and he was a lot more excited about the idea then you would think of someone from the 1940s to be. 

This was because Steve had his own secret, one that only three other people ever knew. He had told his mother this secret when she was on her deathbed, and she was fully supportive, and honoured that he shared it with her, only slightly disappointed that he couldn't tell her sooner. Peggy was another person who knew, as she helped him keep his secret. Steve knew he could tell Peggy, simply because she was an amazing person. 

Of course the final person who knew was Bucky, Bucky knew almost everything about Steve, but that wasn't why he knew about this secret. He knew because it was a shared secret. Steve and Bucky were gay. They had been since before the serum. 

But the Avengers didn't know.

As soon as Bucky had been blipped back, Steve had wanted to tell him all about it. How they could come out, really be themselves. He hadn't been able to tell him until after Scott and Clint returned the stones, Clint had taken an extra suit with him in the hopes to bring back Natasha, and when he returned, he no longer had it. Because the suit was standing beside him, with the Black Widow inside. 

When Steve did tell Bucky, he was excited, and wanted the whole world to know. But Bucky hadn't been ready. He wanted to keep it a secret, just between the two of them for now. Steve accepted this, of course, but was still looking forward to the day that Bucky would be ready, when they could prepare for the day they would come out.
