Tsaheylu is a bonding act, it has several different uses to different creatures, but primarily, it allows two beings to mentally connect and share information with one another. It also allows connect emotional and spiritually with another being. This also an act of bonding with the creatures of Pandora, Direhorse and Ikran. It's not a sexual act! Down below has more information on this.
Also this goes the same with the plant life, like connecting to the Tree of Voices to connect with family, friends or ancestors that have previously passed.
This bonding is use in animal taming and riding. It helps Na'vi to be able to ride banshee without the use or reins. This also important so Na'vi can communicate verbally, such commands to their banshee or direhorse to direct it without the use of reins. They can even feel each other's pain and emotions. This is important especially since this is their Rite of Passage into becoming an adult Na'vi within the clan.
Mating
I can't stress this enough, but I have to explain this incase some people don't know. Na'vi also bond with each other while they mate! Tsaheylu is not a sexual act, it is not apart of the sex! It allowing their minds to connect to "become one" in a sense, allowing them to preform a spiritual and emotional bond.
They can also feel physical and emotional feelings of their mate through this, this is why they sometimes participate in Tsaheylu while mating! It's also not apart of the genitalia either! It's only to form an emotional bond, it is basically a neural link creating a deeper bond between two individuals, that's it. It is again, not sex.
Additional info
Other Na'vi may also use Tsaheylu with other Na'vi to see the others memories or to transfer information, so please don't confused this with the mating process. It's not sex, Tsaheylu is only to form an emotional bond and spiritual bond, it is basically a neural link creating a deeper bond between two individuals, that's it.
Mother's bonding
Directly after birth, a new born Na'vi's first bond is with their mother to form an emotional bond with Tsaheylu.

Sorry I had to get so explicit about this information. But there's been a lot of confusion about people thinking Tsaheylu is sex and erotic, but it's not. It's just a deep emotional and spiritual bond between two individuals, not erotic. I just wanted to correct any confusion before people start reading and people posting comments about it all.
