I had just finished up giving advice to the last person asked to speak with me. I was more than ready to go get my children from Na'vi that was watching the group Na'vi kids today. This so the parents of the children can do their duty within the clan, either it be hunting, gathering or along the lines as such. Temnawri was too young to join the group, so Eytukan was carrying her around while he took care of his duties. The mother said she was going to show them the hexapede that just had babies.
I was greeted by Woai, who had came back from fishing. "Sofronia, I see you're done today." I nodded giving her a grin. "Yeah, oh, if you aren't doing anything, you wanna pick up the kids with me, they would be happy to see you." Woai grinned hearing that. "Sure."
We got to the watching circle, almost all of the mothers were yelling and criticizing one young mother. "I will see what's wrong." I nodded, acknowledging her. "Yes, I will go and get the kids." I walked over to the children that seemed frightened, I didn't see Yoya, Loreyu or Lily anywhere. I began to put two and two together. "Woai, the kids, they're not here!" I heard a scream and saw Woai pick up the mother by her top.
Woai turned to me, I was visibly shocked by her actions. "I know and she's responsible, that's why the others were yelling." Mo'at looked away from me and started glaring back at the mother. "I understand you feared for the others, but you leaving without them is not acceptable, we will tell Mo'at and Eytukan about this."
I immediately felt the panic set in. "No, no, no." I ran my hands through my hair frantically. Woai was still going off on the mother. "You are no longer allowed to watch any children on the watch circle ever again!" Woai turned to another mother in the group. "Let Eytukan and Mo'at know what has happened." I tried to regain my composer. "Where were you all located, when attack happened?" The mother that left them, nervously stared at Woai and then at me with guilt. "Near the hexapede grounds."
Woai and I let the mother go and we ran to where one of the Na'vi mothers said where the RDA had attacked them. I saw the area in poor shape, plants trampled, tree limbs cut and weapons that were left behind. We searched for them and seen no sign of them, the only thing we found were Loreyu and Yoya's toys. I picked up the toys and held them close. I could feel the tears building up.
I cried as Woai took my hand. "My babies." Woai called her Ikran. "Don't worry, we'll find them!" I nodded as she helped me on. I screamed for a second as we ascended into the skies. "We shall look from above!"
Woai took me on Ikran and we searched the sky. "I don't see any RDA!" Woai made call to her Ikran and we went lower. "Let's get closer!" I felt my body freeze for a second before I seen an RDA camp. "Woai, down there!" Woai had her Ikran Allan's as we scoped out their camp.
Woai looked around their camp to find nothing, not a single clue. "Sofronia, get down!" Woai pushed me behind tree. My ears were ringing from hearing an automatic rifle going off. Once they were out of ammo, Woai jumped out from the tree shooting them with a bow. "Sofronia come out, it is safe." I stood up and came out to her request, only to see the solider with the last bit of strength he had, had taken out his pistol and shot her straight through her left side.
I felt sick hearing Woai screaming in pain as she kneeled towards the ground. "No!" I ran to her crying as I seen her struggled to keep herself from falling on the ground. "No, no, no!" Woai gave me a small smile. "Please hold on, I'll get help!" Woai grabbed my hand. "I won't make it, take me near the tree of voices." My eyes softened. "I want to connect to Eywa one last time before I rejoin the great mother." I nodded as tears started to fall. "Okay, let's go."
I helped her to the Tree as she held onto my shoulders for support. Once we were there she smiled. She laid down near the tree and connected to it. "Thank you Sofronia, for everything and take care of Eytukan and Mo'at for me." I nodded. "One last thing..." Woai held my hand and smiled. "What?" Woai gave me a closed eye smile, before opening her eyes. "I want to see you smile one last time and take this." Woai gave me something as I tried my best to smiled through the tears. She gave me one last smile, before she disconnected from Eywa. She to her last breath, closing her eyes for the very last time.
"Woai..." Now was when I really went it hit. I began to sob uncontrollably. "Sofronia!" Eytukan ran towards me and his eyes widened. "I'm so sorry." Eytukan walked over to his mother and said a prayer for her. Mo'at came by and joined me seeing Woai dead. She held me tightly, trying to comfort me as she sobbed.
I watched as her body was going to buried near the roots of Home Tree, Eytukan and Mo'at walked towards her with me. We lined her grave with flowers, while Temnawri cooed at Woai. I gave her a small flowers she dropped near her face. Eytukan placed her songcord over her, while Mo'at placed and woodsprite over her as well. I remembered how much she loved my Kinglor flower decorations on my headband. So took the right one off and placed it over her. We covered up her body and we joined the clan honoring her by singing and chanting.
After Mo'at took the baby and began to feed her some fruit she smashed for her. I went to the hammock and just laid there. Eytukan went to go over there, but Mo'at stopped him. I could hear her whisper to him. "Not now, she's been through a lot, tomorrow."
I woke up at night hear sniffling. I sat up to see Mo'at holding Temnawri protectively close to her as she slept. "This has hit her hard too..." I glanced over to see Eytukan sitting outside the kelku, I walked towards him. "Eytukan?" He turned to me his eyes puffy and red. "Sof..." I sat down beside him and hug his arm, gently resting my head upon it. "I'm sorry, Eytukan." Eytukan resting his head on mine. "No, I am, I should've protected you all." I intertwined his hand in mine. "It's not your fault, I've learned a long time ago, when I was a kid that life isn't fair, it's never been."
Eytukan kissed the top of my head. "I'm sorry, I wasn't there to protect you from that early on." I sighed hearing that. "I wish you could've, but that was way before we met... is there anything I can do for you?" Eytukan chuckled a bit. "Nothing, just stay like this with me for a while." I nodded, knowing that I would stay with him even till the morning if he'd ask me to. "Okay."
Eytukan stared at my hand. "What did she give you?" A thought occurred to me that I never looked, I just kept in tightly in my hand. I opened my hand, it looked like a tooth. "That's young Thanator's tooth, she knocked two loose when she was young and was almost killed by one, as a young hunter." I smiled remembering her wearing one. "It's apart of culture to wear one as an earring or necklace." I hummed a bit. "Do you think you and Mo'at can help pierce my ear, I think I want to wear it, just like Woai." Eytukan smiled at my sentiment. "I think she'd be honored, if you did that." I smiled at it, remembering all of the fond memories I had with her.
