After the Party –

The soft clatter of dishes being cleared from the dining table filled the quiet air in Adair and Aron's house. Ansh, perched on his small chair, was unusually quiet, poking at the last few grains of rice on his plate. Malti sat beside him, her fingers tracing invisible patterns on the edge of the table. The warm glow of the house felt heavy tonight, thick with an unspoken sense of finality.

After dinner, Ansh walked over to Aron. His little hands clutched the fabric of Aron's trousers as he hugged his legs tightly. His voice wavered, trembling with suppressed sobs.
"Daddy, I will miss you," he said, his small body shaking as tears slid down his cheeks.

Aron immediately crouched down to Ansh's level, his heart twisting at the sight of the boy's sorrow. He gently held Ansh's arms, his tone soft yet firm.
"Then come with me, Ansh," Aron said, his eyes searching the boy's face, hoping for an answer he wasn't sure he'd get.

Ansh sniffled, his tiny fists wiping at his wet cheeks. He hesitated for a long moment, then finally shook his head, his words coming out in a whisper.
"My father is here," he said, almost as though he was convincing himself of the fact.
