The morning sun filtered through the blinds of Adair's office, casting long, muted shadows across the sleek desk. Adair sat with a book open before him, his gaze fixed on a small, dried leaf pressed delicately between its pages. He traced the edges with his finger, the memory attached to it pulling him deeper into a place he couldn't escape.

His eyes, rimmed with exhaustion, betrayed the sleepless night he'd spent battling thoughts he couldn't silence. The stillness was interrupted by the sound of hurried footsteps.

"Boss!"

Adair didn't move at first. His fingers brushed the edge of the book before he gently closed it and placed it aside. Resting his chin on his interlaced fingers, he finally looked up at Raghav, his expression sharp yet unreadable.

"What happened?" he asked, his voice steady but with an edge that demanded clarity.

Raghav paused, his eyes scanning Adair's face. The swollen redness around his boss's eyes was unmistakable. He'd never seen him like this before—tired, almost human, vulnerable.

Adair's brows lifted slightly, a silent prompt. "If you've nothing to say, leave. I don't want to be disturbed today."

The words carried no anger, but they were laced with finality.

Raghav swallowed hard and finally blurted out, "Boss, yesterday, Riya overheard your conversation with Tina. She... she's demanding to know who you really are."

Adair's composure cracked, just for a fraction of a second. He stood abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor as he straightened. "What are you saying?" he asked, his voice sharper now, tinged with disbelief.

Raghav hesitated, guilt evident in his eyes. "She's not answering my calls," he muttered, staring at the floor, his shoulders slumping under the weight of his words.

Adair's piercing gaze bore into him, demanding more without a word. Just then, Raghav's phone buzzed in his pocket. He fumbled to retrieve it, his heart sinking when he saw Riya's name.

Opening the message, his eyes widened as he read aloud:

"*First - I have nothing to do with you. Second - I'm heading to meet Mishti, and it's over for your friend's time in my friend's life. He can't use her anymore for anything.*"

Raghav's voice faltered as he finished, his throat dry. He barely registered the words when Adair snatched the phone from his hand.

Adair's grip tightened around the device as he read the message, his jaw clenching with every word. His pulse thundered in his ears, drowning out Raghav's murmured, "She said she has nothing to do with me."
