Kimberly (Evergreen) POV
"I would like to go ahead and start with the interview if that's okay." Katy Stalkhome said, handing me a cup of water.

"Before we get started, there's no weed killer in this...right?" I joked, the audience laughed with me. "Of course not." Katy smiled, albeit nervously.

"So, how did it feel to take down the villains of New York?" She asked me. "Oh come on, you sound like I did it all myself! You're giving me way too much credit!" I laughed, the audience laughed too.

"One good rule in life is if you ever have to face something hard, never face it alone. Always have great friends and people that support you. I couldn't have done it without my friends." I smiled, it was really true. The audience cheered when I finished my sentence.

"Gosh. Do y'all just cheer at everything I say?" I laughed. The audience reacted by of course, cheering. "SpiderGirl would love this!" "So tell us about SpiderGirl, actually. The people of New York are dying to know, who is she really?" Katy said once the audience died down.

"I haven't ever seen her without it mask, actually. I swear she wears that thing to sleep!" I laughed, scanning the crowd, who was also laughing. I spotted Rachel in the second row, without her suit on, she gave me a thumbs up.

"Really? Not even once." Images played through my head, meeting her and her father, befriending them, all of our crazy adventures up until my brother was killed. I was still angry with her at that some. "Nope. Maybe she's shy without it?" I laughed.

"What will happen to the villains now? How will you keep them off the streets?" She asked, trying to divert her questions, seeing I wouldn't budge on that subject.

"We have a high security center that they are all being held in. Most of my friends guard it on a daily basis. I cannot say where is, however. The government is working close with us." I said, sensing her next question. I swear news anchors try to make you squirm out of your seat. Or as uncomfortable as possible in comfy chairs.

"Speaking of the government, can you tell me a bit about that?" She asked me. "We are selecting a small group of police to work with us on special assignments." I said. I glanced at Rachel and saw her pointing to her phone.

"I'm very sorry, but I've gotta fly." I whistled, calling my board. The audience cheered as I flew over their heads and out the back door.

I flew all the way up to the Hellicarrier, thanks to Tony Stark, and landed on the deck. Director Fury was waiting for me outside the elevator.

"Kimberly, may I have a word with you? It's very important." He said, sounding a bit rushed. "Of course." I responded. Using my sense, I could tell something was going on, something big if Nick Fury was worried...

We took the elevator and went into the main room. "As you know, we have a new training facility for the young recruits we picked up along the way. We are going to land a smaller jet in the remote forest of Arizona." He told me.

"Okay...why are you telling me this?" I asked, feeling suspicious. "Well, we have a girl at the makeshift facility that needs help. She won't talk to us, and I need a mutant that has a sense for emotions and can calm people down easily." He explained, walking toward the main control room.

I followed him, haphazardly dodging around the various employees. We made it into the control room and Director Fury walked over to the pilot of the ship, or rather, the one watching the autopilot for failure.

"How long from here to Arizona?" Director Fury asked. "Around 2 hours, thanks to the jets on the smaller jet you're taking." Director Fury nodded.

"We just need SpiderGirl and we'll be ready to go. We leave in an hour". He informed me. SpiderGirl....the girl that got my brother killed.

"Okay." I answered shortly. He looked at me and titled his head. "Just call me when we're leaving." I wandered off back to the bunks.

I laid on my bunk, staring at the ceiling in thought. Of all people, why did they choose me? I was the one who lost control too many times.

"Oh. You're back." Someone said, jarring me from my thoughts. Rachel was standing in the doorway. "Yep." I responded shortly. She walked over to me and looked down. "Is something wrong?"

"Nope. You're too busy with your new job anyway." I shot back. "I'll take that as a yes. Instead of Weedhead, you're hothead. What's wrong?" She asked. Her jokes didn't make it any better.

"Nothing." I said, a tear rolled surprisingly down my cheek. "Oh." Rachel said, sitting on the bed next to me. I sat up with my back to her. She slipped something around my neck and I looked down. It was Luke's necklace!

"How did you..." I started to ask. "Got it before everything was destroyed. Look, I didn't mean to kill your brother. I was trying to stop him from hurting you any more. I hung him in webs in the tree and he lunged at me with the necklace, trying to give it to me. Hawkeye shot him in the back with some sort of new arrow.

Your father was already killing him." Those words hung in the air, thick as the smog on the city.

"What?" I asked, alarmed. "Are you ready to leave?" Director Fury asked us from the doorway.

"What do you mean?" I asked Rachel, sitting fully upright, completely ignoring Director Fury. "We need to leave, now." Director Fury said, a harshness to his tone.

"Fine. Tell me on the way there." I snapped, pushing past Director Fury and out of the room. I sensed them trading glances and grew even more upset.

We got on the plane and strapped in. I made extra sure that I was next to Rachel so she could tell me without interruption.

"Your father tried some new serum on your brother, instead of slowing down the disease, it sped it up." She finally told me. "I knew I should've killed him when I had the chance...weaker one...makes sense now." I snarled in fury.

"Uh...Kimberly...mind letting go of my legs now?" Rachel asked me. I shook my head and looked over, my vines were squeezing her legs inside her suit. "Sorry." I said gruffly. "It's...it's okay. Just a few holes...should heal up. On the bright side, we can probably play a game of connect four on my legs..." She laughed.

I burst out laughing and turned to her. "Sorry about that. I'm sorry about everything, I was just...angry and I took it out on you." "It's all good. Hey, I'd rather a be Kimberly punching bag, than a Doc Oc one, I mean, have you seen his arms?" She laughed. I grinned.

We landed in a few short hours.

I started stretching my legs, walking toward the only building for miles. It looked like a boring building: flat top, flat sides. We reached the front and Director Fury unlocked the gates. They swung open with a loud creeeak as we walked inside.

The real front door was down a completely enclosed stone hallway, beyond another door. There were a total of three doors, one just inside the gate and another at the end of the stone hallway.

There were all sorts of confusing hallways, Director Fury took us down different winding and twisting paths. Groot had offered to come with us, so he was trailing behind me, occasionally squeezing my hand. I had been too upset to talk to him on the ride over.

"Here we are, Kimberly. Rachel, I have another task for you and Groot." He said, walking away. I lightly kissed Groot on the cheek as he bent down before carefully turning the knob.
