Rachel POV
We walked into the front office and I clicked the button. We waited while it rang and I sat on the desk. Finally, Fury appeared. "You better have a damn good reason to be calling me now." He growled.
"I do. I have a proposition for you." Miranda said boldly. "I'm listening." Fury said, leaning forward. "We need to let the mutants out of their cages. It's not right to keep them locked up like criminals. You said they were free to roam like on the ship. We need to train them to fight whatever alien species is trying to steal ScarletStar."
"Absolutely out of the question." He snapped, not even letting her finish. "Fur...""don't." Miranda snapped. I leaned back.
"You are going to help us or I am taking this facility from you." She snarled. I had never seen her so angry. "No." Fury argued.
"We have no idea what those mutants can do. You haven't even met the most dangerous ones." He snapped. "You haven't given me the chance. But it seems like we both have our answer." She snapped, slamming her hand on the hang up button.
I felt the desk I was sitting on start to wobble. "Uhhh....SilverMist.." I started. "What!?" She yelled, dropping the desk. "Thank you."
She glared at me. "So.... Great job. Now we're against lizard things and SHIELD. Have anyone else you want to piss off? We can add them to the list too." "Oh ha ha." She snapped at me.
The screen popped back up. "You are making a huge mistake. Whatever you do until I can stop you, be careful. And whatever you do, don't go into the basement. That's the most dangerous mutant of all." He growled before hanging up.
"What do you think it is?" I asked quietly. "I don't know. But whatever it is, I'm going to find out. Come with me." She said.
"Alright. But we need to be careful. And we are not going in there with whatever thing is in there. We can look from the windows." I said. SilverMist nodded, determination all over her face.
"You ready?" She nodded at me and unlocked the door.
"We need to find the path down there, and I'm sure it's not going to be the easiest thing to find. Wait. There might be an access key hidden in a desk." She told me.
We walked back into the desk and completely tore apart the room. "A master key has to be here somewhere!" SilverMist yelled in frustration.
I walked over to the desk and felt under the table top hole in the front. "Looky looky what I found." I laughed. I pulled out an access card that was taped under the desk.
"Let's get cracking."
