Kimberly POV

No matter how hard I tried, I just seemed to step one foot forward and two steps back.

ScarletStar wouldn't really tell me about her past, or anything about her. I think she's scared to.

I keep pushing lightly each day, but she pushes back, hard. She keeps stonewalling me and won't let me in. Anything else we talk about she'll throw in a few words and make a couple of jokes, but other than that, she doesn't say anything.

I walked back into the training room and sighed before reaching for the doorknob. "Evergreen. I have another small assignment for you." I jumped and turned around. A hologram Director Fury was on the wall.

"Yes sir?" I asked. "We have a rather....unusual guest here that I want you to talk to." He said. Unusual? What does Fury count as unusual? What am I in for?

"Happy to help! Where are they?" I asked, walking closer to the screen. "Two rooms down. She's a younger girl that was just brought in. Please try and get something out of her." He said, the screen disappeared.

I walked down two doors and opened the door. It was light inside and a girl was sitting at the table, across from me. There was nothing in the room except a small lightbulb, two metal chairs, and a metal table.

The woman was staring at me with unwavering green eyes. Her blonde hair had streaks of red in it and there was a crooked scar going down over her right eye.

She was wearing a grey jumpsuit, both of her hands under the table. "Here to call me a freak, are ya?" She asked me challengingly. She had a thick Irish accent.

"Well. If you're a freak then I'm the queen of the freaks. I'm Evergreen. May I sit?" I gestured toward the chair in front of her. "I guess. Not really my room or chairs, is it?" She smirked at me.

"Thanks." I grinned, pulling it out. I sat down and she looked me over. "You're part plant. Sounds like there's gonna be another thorn in my side." She commented, sitting back in her chair. Fury calls this a little assignment?

"Not quite the assignment you were expectin, eh?" She grinned at me. "Not really. You're a bit more calm and normal than what I expected." I replied, sitting down easier in my chair.

"Normal? Hah. Furthest thing from it." She laughed at me, slamming her hands on the table. I jumped slightly and looked down. One of her arms ended in a black metal dome.

"See that? Of course you do. It's hard to miss." She laughed at me. "Yeah? So?" I asked, refusing to be unnerved. "Nicknames Hooker. Not quite a lovely one is it?" She laughed at me. "I've heard worse." I snapped back.

"I'll give you a new one. Right here and now. The Hooktress. Take it or leave it." I said, leaning forward a bit. "Damn. I'm takin that one." She grinned at me. "Why are you called that, anyway?" I asked, sitting up fully in my chair.

"Well, there was a hook that went on the end of this. But your little director took it from me." She growled, leaning back against her chair. "How did you...uh...""Be the lucky girl to have a hook for her hand?" She smiled maliciously.

"I'll tell you if you get my hook back." She grinned, sitting back in her chair. I rolled my eyes. "Used to be able to poke those out for ya." She growled at me. "That's not helping you." I said back.

"Alright. Deal." I sighed. "Shake on it, dearie." She said, holding out her right hand. I shook her hand and got up.

Leaving the room, I went down the hallway and all the way to the main office. I sat in the chair and pushed the button in the desk. "Director Fury." Directory Fury said as he popped up on the hologram screen.
