SpiderGirl POV
"Hello." The Hooktress said, walking into the room. "So mind telling me what the hell is going on? I almost got killed back there."
"We're trying to figure out a riddle." I said, turning back to the screen. "You almost killed me for a bloody riddle?" She snarled at me. "We thought you might be good at riddles." "Why? Just because I'm a bloody pirate?" She snapped.
"Uh. Yeah." ScarletStar said like it was a plain fact. "Well lucky for you, I'm quite good with riddles." She smirked.
She read the screen and threaded her hook through her hair. "Aye. It's a riddle." "No shit Sherlock." ScarletStar replied "aye! Why does she get to cuss and I don't?" The Hooktress snarled. "Kiddies not reading her lines?" She snapped. "What the...you and Deadpool I swear." I snapped
"Maybe because it's an English expression?" She snapped back. "No. The bloody answer is a riddle." Miranda eyed The Hooktress skeptically.
"My great grandfather dealt in riddles, and so did I as a pirate. Type in the answer before I do it for you." She snapped. Miranda quickly typed in "Riddle" and the screen turned green.
"Are you freaking kidding me? Man I wish school was that easy. Find X. X is X." I laughed.
I heard a door click to the right of me and turned. There was another elevator! We all piled in and went far down.
Finally the doors opened and everyone climbed out. I grabbed the Hooktress's shoulder. "How is Kimberly?" The Hooktress didn't make eye contact.
"They're doing the best they can. She surged her power too hard. What I heard. I'm sorry, mate." She gave me a hug, careful not to snag her hook.
I didn't say anything as we walked out of the elevator. I didn't mean to say what I did. I don't even know why I did.
The arena was a HUGE metal room all the way around. the only window was the one all the way across 40 or more feet. It was a command room.
The Hooktress and I walked across and into the control room. "Are you ready? I can come out and help if you need, but don't be scared, okay?" Miranda said gently to ScarletStar.
She didn't say anything but nodded. "Alright, Scar, go control your power." The Hooktress winked. ScarletStar smiled numbly back.
I watched her walk into the arena, getting her bearings. She sat in the middle of the arena, cross legged. I walked out and gave her her necklace.
"We're right here. Don't be afraid, this entire placed can survive a nuclear war. So don't worry about us." She nodded at me and grabbed the necklace.
"If it doesn't work, tell everyone thank you." She said, so quietly it seemed more like a thought in her head. "Will do. But it will work." I grinned.
She waited for me to walk back into the control room. She gently put it on and I saw her start to change.
She shifted from an eagle, to a bear, to a lion, a wolf, crocodile, lemur, and several other amazing animals. One thing that stayed consistent was the tattoo over her eye and the redness of her hair.
It took almost three hours for her to go through her animals. Finally, I saw the biggest and most fearsome of them all, the dragon.
She stretched her wings wide and grinned at us. "We know what you want to do, so go for it. There should be some targets." Miranda announced through the loud speaker.
ScarletStar breathed bright orange fire, so bright I felt as if I needed goggles! She seemed to be really enjoying herself!
I watched her for a few moments. But, without warning, she collapsed to the ground, turning into her human state.
The Hooktress practically broke the door down to get to her. "She's still breathing, aye but barely." She gently picked up ScarletStar and we made our way to the elevator. SilverMist and I exchanged looks. "You don't think she's into her...do you?" I joked. The Hooktress turned toward us. "Bloody hell. I've.....well this is a partially kiddy book so I'll keep it nice and simple for ya. I've been with several men, thank you. Unlike you seem to, I actually care for my friends a lot. Or I wouldn't be dicking around." She snapped. We both fell silent.
The elevator, to our relief, brought us to the top floor, across from the medical wing.
We rushed in and they put her on a stretcher. The doctors started yelling orders to each other. We were forced out of the wing and would be given updates.
"Aye, I've got to make a phone call." The Hooktress said. She disappeared out of sighed. Miranda looked at me confusedly.
