Oblivion

I may be small and weak.
I may be haunted and broken.
I may have pain in my eyes
That I hide with a smile.
But I'm only human.

I may have been hurt.
I may have been pitied.
I may have seen horror
That has broken me more.
But that's all I need.

I may live in darkness.
I may hide from light.
I may live in fear
That has driven me here.
But I'm unable to fight.

I may look vulnerable.
I may look insignificant.
I may be just a shadow
That is pushed back by its foe.
But that is my oblivion.

I may not let a single tear form.
I may not let myself fall.
I may have seen myself
That sadness that I felt.
But that's not all of it.

I may look in the mirror.
I may look over the edge.
I may remember
That pain and somber.
But I still step back from that ledge.

I may feel down.
I may feel the urge to leave.
I may question my heart
That has been broken apart.
But yet I'm still breathing.

I may feel lost.
I may lose my way.
I may think of the end
That often returns to my head.
But yet, I still stay.
