Words are thrown
In and out,
Back and forth.
Insults that hit bone.

Verbal abuse is spread
Up and down,
Side to side.
Through the heart and head.

Words are taken
Through soul and mind,
Through tears and skin.
Feelings are shaken.

Anger is shown
With the body and face,
With fist and blood.
The fuse has blown.

Some feel sad
Cowering and crying,
Depressed and alone.
From what the words had
done.

No fear is known
No injuries or violence,
Only self confidence.
Ignoring their tone.

You cannot run
From your past,
Ignore the words.
What's said is done.
