The backdrop on the set of the upcoming K-drama 'The Secret Behind Love' was steeped in tense atmosphere. The camera rested steadily on its tripod, while the lighting was meticulously placed to bathe the room in a mixture of mystique and romance. Panning through the carefully crafted set, which recreated the exclusive gallery of Kim Jiah - played by Kim Dami - a passionate painter, the camera revealed every detail, from the handmade picture frames to the subtle reflections on the window panes. The walls were adorned with her works, from abstract paintings to expressive portraits.

In the center of the room stood a young man, in a state of confusion.

None other than Choi Beomgyu had taken on this demanding role. His dark brown hair hung slightly down his forehead and he wore a long beige coat that emphasized his slender figure, as his role demanded. His face radiated the youthfulness of a teenager, but in his performance he showed the maturity and talent of an experienced actor.

The series tells the captivating story of his character Lee Jun, a talented young architect living and working in Seoul. When he meets Kim Jiah one day, they begin a romantic relationship. However, Lee Jun's world is soon shaken when he discovers that Kim Jiah is involved in a murder case. A mysterious stranger contacts Lee Jun and claims that Kim Jiah was involved in an affair with the victim and is now a suspect in the murder. Despite his firm conviction of her innocence, Lee Jun begins to investigate to prove it. In the process, he uncovers shocking secrets that not only jeopardize his own safety, but also that of his girlfriend.

So the initial scene was there to captivate the audience straight away. So everyone did their best to make the pilot episode as exciting as possible.

With Beomgyu's appearance, it was a piece of cake and it only took them one try to shoot the scene. Then an admirable buffet was set up for every hard worker who put their efforts into this series.

Beomgyu was the first to help himself to the muffins and let his gaze wander over the many people present. Between extras, cameramen, a director and lighting technicians, he also found a few unfamiliar faces. He enjoyed a moment of peace as he surveyed the room. The mood was relaxed and the crew celebrated the successful completion of the first scene.

"That was really good," Dami's voice rang out from behind her colleague.

He turned to her, returned her words with a smile and took a hearty bite of the muffin. "Thanks, you were just as good in your role. It's like you know a lot about art," he grinned and brushed the crumbs off his coat. Now that he was out of character, he didn't have to be as closed off as the character he was playing.

Dami laughed lightly and shook his head. "Well, I learned quite a bit about painting beforehand to portray Kim Jiah authentically. It's still a challenge to find the perfect balance."

Beomgyu nodded in agreement, because he hadn't always had an easy time perfecting his roles either. He had done a lot of research, watched videos and interviewed other people. For the role of Lee Jun, he had to rehearse his serious looks for several hours a day, which meant standing in front of the mirror for a very long time.
