The conversation with Soobin had given Yeonjun some ideas. The apartment where Soyeon had lived for years was in the same building complex as the other dorms. So it hadn't been difficult to track it down - especially since no one had even bothered to completely remove the yellow police tape. And when he entered the apartment with Beomgyu, a cold shiver ran down their spines.

"Really sad," Yeonjun murmured quietly, hoping that no one on the floor could hear them.

The apartment was spotlessly clean, almost too perfectly so. The air smelled of disinfectant, a sign that the police had been thorough here.

Despite the cleanliness, it felt strange.

Every step on the shiny floor echoed as if they were walking through an empty museum. Beomgyu looked around curiously, his eyes gliding over the furnishings, which were so different from what he remembered from Soyeon. He spotted a book on the living room table that he had never seen before and a painting on the wall that didn't match Soyeon's taste.

The incongruities only added to the feeling of strangeness and discomfort.

The apartment itself was spacious and modern. Bright colors and minimalist design dominated the room, but beneath the surface lay a vague emptiness. A large flat-screen TV stood in the living room, surrounded by comfortable sofas that seemed lifeless. The bedroom was equally neat and contained a large bed with pristine white sheets, but lacked any personal touches to indicate that anyone had lived here. In the kitchen, where some food was still put away, Beomgyu discovered a jar of nuts. He took it out of the small cupboard and looked at the label. It wasn't Soyeon's handwriting and he frowned. "Strange," he murmured quietly, "I can still remember when Namjoo Soyeon baked a birthday cake. A chocolate and nut cake. But after the first bite, Soyeon started coughing wildly and almost seemed to choke."

"Do you mean because they look completely untouched?" Yeonjun asked, tilting his head. He hadn't moved much out of respect for Soyeon, but Beomgyu's statement made him wonder.

"She was allergic," Beomgyu finally said, looking into Yeonjun's face with a serious expression. "She would never voluntarily eat nuts if she didn't want to end up in hospital." He shook the jar in which the nuts were swaying back and forth. "Then why does she have this? Probably not for guests."

Yeonjun frowned thoughtfully as he looked at the nuts in Soyeon's spotlessly clean apartment. The incongruity between Beomgyu's tale of Soyeon's nut allergy and the presence of untouched nuts was unsettling. It was as if the reality and memories of Soyeon's life were colliding here. The atmosphere in the apartment seemed to become more tense, and the two friends could not deny that this discovery increased their uncertainty. Beomgyu looked around as if searching for more signs of tampering, while Yeonjun continued to weigh the possible explanations. "Maybe someone deliberately placed these nuts here," Yeonjun speculated further, "to distract from something else. But why nuts of all things? That raises more questions than it answers."
