As expected, Kenny had plans with Tyler after the game and Riley knew Kenny wouldn't reappear until the bus left for their game the next day. Rather than spend the night alone, Riley had texted her friend Russ, which is how she ended up sitting on his couch with him while the television played in the background. Knowing that Russ had played hockey with Tyler, Riley figured he might have some inside information. Not being on for subtlety, Riley directly asked "Hey that Tyler kid is a goalie on your team, right?"
Russ nodded, "Yeah third line goalie, why?"
"What do you know about him?" Riley prompted
"Uhh he's kind of a weird dude. Nice enough but I've always felt there was something off with him. Plus I don't like what I've seen and heard about stuff with his ex."
Turning her body to face Russ, Riley clarified "What do you mean? What happened with his ex?"
"Well they were together like six or seven years since middle school but once they got to college he wasn't exactly..." Russ contemplated the right word, "...loyal. Stuff like flirting with other girls, going back to their rooms, things like that. I didn't hear of him actually taking things further or hooking up but still. And I've seen firsthand him dancing with other girls at parties and stuff. Plus I heard he broke up with her at the end of the school year last year but then hung out with and hooked up with her all summer just to completely ditch and ignore her this year. But why are you asking? You're not interested in him, right?"
"Ew. No. You know Kenny? Kelsey Kennedy, my roommate, teammate, and bff?" Riley questioned. Russ simply nodded, "Yeah" so Riley continued. "Well she's got a thing going with him. I only met him once at that party you picked us up from and he was a dick. Other than that interaction and what Kenny has told me, I don't know him."
"Ahh ok. Well I haven't had any negative interactions with him personally but I feel like he's the type to have some dark shit he keeps hidden. That's just a feeling though since I haven't heard anything."
"Mhmmm ok. I guess there isn't really anything I Can do at this point anyways..." her voice trailed off.
"It's a tricky situation" Russ sympathized.
"Sure is," Riley grumbled as she sat in contemplation.
